He consistently surprises me on how big a piece of shit he is. He could have just said it was because it was a better business environment but he had to go the shitty route and blame trans people.

[–] androogee@midwest.social 25 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Lol Texas is currently dealing with armed mobs threatening the repair workers trying to turn power on for their shitty grid that breaks twice a year.

Better business environment lmao.

Short sighted greed isn't better for anyone, including the greedy.

[–] SeaJ@lemm.ee 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Essentially lower taxes and politicians who are easier to bribe. Considering that Musk is also CEO of a company with big battery production and another one that does some solar panel production, I'm not sure a shitty power grid would be too much of an issue for SpaceX.

[–] androogee@midwest.social 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

... Right, but the armed mobs are an example of how unimpeded greed has unintended and unpredictable consequences.

Chaos is not a better business environment. It's just not.

Businesses need infrastructure and stability and regulation to thrive.

Republicans are just fuckin stupid and greedy. It's not a system that actually works. For anyone in the long term.

[–] PythagreousTitties@lemm.ee 159 points 3 months ago (3 children)

"my kid is trans and won't talk to me because I'm a huge piece of shit, waah".

That's the reason he's doing this.

[–] WamGams@lemmy.ca 14 points 3 months ago

You think the guy who has a fake account which posts as if it was a loser pretending to be Elon for attention has that much self reflection?

[–] timewarp@lemmy.world 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Are you sure it isn't the gullible church goers that'll believe he's a strong Christian man that fornicates with children cause Satan is tempting him.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 15 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

His trans daughter hates him so much that she not only officially changed her surname from Musk in court, she had it put into the court record that she disowns him. That's not even a law thing, she just wanted it officially noted.

Imagine what sort of absolutely horrific father he must be to disown one of the world's richest men? She could have kept her mouth shut, waited for him to die, and hoped she got some money out of it, but he's that terrible.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago (4 children)

It’s easy to imagine how bad of a father he is if you read her mom’s article about how bad of a husband he was. The man got rich and immediately abandoned his family and became a raging bigot because his daughter hates him

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

I've read that, but even that does not reach the level of "Put this in the court record: fuck you and your billions of dollars." He must be so much worse than any article could portray.

"My Ex is dating Chelsea Manning, waah."

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 87 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Please host the Twitter servers in Texas. It would be nice for the internet to improve each day the poorly managed Texas power grid dies.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 13 points 3 months ago

Please host the Twitter servers in Texas

Can't do that with porn being so heavily restricted in Texas..

Alternate title: "Billionaire that doesn’t contribute anything to the local community threatens to go away"

It’s the same as people saying we shouldn’t raise taxes for the ultra rich because they will go away, as if they didn’t benefit from the tax paid services for free

[–] JesusSon@lemmy.world 51 points 3 months ago

Fuck off shit bag, we're full

[–] Karyoplasma@discuss.tchncs.de 40 points 3 months ago (1 children)

He should move back to South Africa, but I assume he doesn't like it that much anymore since they officially abolished apartheid

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 18 points 3 months ago (2 children)

He'd probably do okay. It's still one of, if not the most unequal countries on the planet and it's far more corrupt than the U.S.

He would have to stick to the cities that can eeliably keep electricity available.

[–] LustyArgonianMana@lemmy.world 35 points 3 months ago (2 children)

He is such a creep about trans people

[–] Fades@lemmy.world 19 points 3 months ago (1 children)

one of his estranged kids is trans so it's personally motivated bigotry for him

[–] LustyArgonianMana@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I know, also Grimes dating Chelsea Manning right after they broke up (I feel bad Chelsea Manning got involved in anyone this, she is too good for these people)

He's just so creepy and weird about it though.

Is he going to see his kid's genitals? No, right? So why does it matter? Why do the genitals of students matter to him?

[–] Delusional@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

While donating a shit ton of money monthly to a pedophile rapist.

Can someone explain this to me. What does student policy have to do with space or online posts?

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 14 points 3 months ago

It doesn't, Texas is probably better for taxes. He's just being a bigot to "own the libs" or whatever the real reason is.

[–] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago (8 children)

Like most extremely outspoken people with a phobia like this. He's probably a closet wannabe trans.

Actually, the more I think about it, it kinda fits for him/her ...

[–] CaptPretentious@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

You know... that does kind of track. Back in the 2010's when the hot topic was gay rights, some of the most zealot anti-gay right wingers... were found to dabble in the very least. And this is some loud stuff that has no direct connection to him, so... yeah.

Absolutely nothing.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 18 points 3 months ago

I really doubt that that’s the actual reason. It’s just convenient to blame trans people.

[–] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 16 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Imagine if federal agencies weren't allowed to work with businesses that have that kind of political stance... One can dream...

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

At this point, NASA is kind of fucked if they don't have SpaceX to rely on.

I hate it.

I hope this move bleeds talent and destroys both companies. I mean, I get that X already probably lost everyone who could get a different job (making people on visas hostages) but this should empty out the last of those who have the ability to leave and haven't done so already.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

Living in Hawthorne myself (the place SpaceX is in now) I don't get the sense it's doing the city all that good. I think they get major tax breaks or something, since the area is pretty run down except for it's immediate area. It's fairly industrial / commercial but there's a closed down mall, boarded up shops, etc.

I hope this is a punch in the gut the fools running the city need to start dealing with it's real problems. :/

[–] raynethackery@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

He's eventually going to move to Russia and try to take all the SpaceX Technology with him.

Wonder how many of the engineers will follow him. Idk if this is true but felt like Twitter was one of the top places / most desirable places to work, you got to solve high scale, highly visible problems to help people communicate along with the standard silicon valley amenities. Now with the musk take over I doubt they're having luck finding the best talent. Will be fun to see it decay over the coming years.

If you're in the country on an H1B you're property of Elon.

Good. Tech workers are a scourge on cities.
