Nobody reads this far down right? I'll just shill for J-Novel Club a bit because I love that they sell DRM free Ebooks. Go buy the series from their website.

Lucky for me my parents were both "I didn't save anything for retirement, my kids will take care of me when I'm older", so I don't have to suffer through this.

My wife says every family has this drawer. I do not believe every family has this drawer. Do you have this drawer? Do you know a good solution to this drawer?

We have a silverware drawer, organized, maxed out. A sharps drawer, organized, maxed out. Ziplocs, organized, maxed out. Bbq tools and oven mitts, organized, maxed out. But all this shit has no particular category so fuck me right. I gotta have an awkward necessary crap drawer. Maybe I should post all my drawers and crowdsource me some sense into my kitchen.

I mean, I as an average person thought about this tactic, I'm sure some project 2025 people also though about it. I mean, denaturalization have to go through courts, destroying naturalization records could just be an executive order. I mean, they don't even need to destroy it, just order the records to be "relocated for security purposes" then "oopsie, they got caught on fire during transport". Once thats done, any of the citizens copies would get dismissed as fake and mass deportations could proceed...

I hope I'm just being a "doomer", and pray it doesn't happen.

Edit: I already have photos of my certificate of citizenship, but still... if they just start burning records, they can just dismiss my copy as fake. 😖

Basically I've acquired a burner Android 8 phone and am running the target.com app which is the only way they let you get parking lot delivery at the store. I assume the Target app is spyware. I keep the phone powered off almost all the time which should limit the spying. The thing is, if I power up the phone and order something, then close the app, I still get an alert when the status of the order changes (e.g. it's ready for pickup). So the app is still listening for network traffic from Target.

Can anyone explain what is happening in Android and whether there is a way to make an app really stop? Does the app stay in a running state even after I've closed the UI part of it? Is there somethng like an inetd in Android that listens for network alerts and re-launches the destination app? Are there Android app permissions associated with this, that I can revoke?

I don't want to run this type of app on my main phone, but I had at first liked the idea of using a burner for such things. Now, though, I wonder if I need a separate burner for each suspicious app. Thanks.

No premiere date announced yet. The PV is here. Check out the Crunchyroll article for additional information. Synopsis of the source manga from AniList:

Years ago, Genma promised his old friend Soun Tendo that Ranma would marry one of Soun’s three daughters and carry on the family’s martial arts school. Except that the girl picked to be Ranma’s bride doesn’t seem to like him, Ranma keeps getting into fights…and did we mention that whole changing into a girl thing?

I think it would be cool to post a title of something I'm interested in doing a dive into but make it more social and discussion-driven to be able to get the good stuff—kinda like a federated alternative to Blinklist and get everyone reading more with an actual compelling basis to stick to their commitment cuz they'll feel the community's wrath if they dont full-ass read their chapter and absorb it so they can help teach their piece

If not or if its not feasible, could I just do it here? Like

[BookClub] Thinking in Bets

Then everyone does whatever chapter they got assigned and post sequentialky when its their turn and everyone can discuss as it builds up to everyone having their chapter in

Edit: maybe there's a convention where the first comment is like a sticky or roll-call for anyone interested who child-comments that with the next chapter. So like I reply to the first comment which asks who wants to join and then I comment chapter 1, someone replies to mine with chapter 2, and so on until all the chapters are divvied up.

Edit: poster has to provide the number of chapters and why they want to read it so its established as a purposeful reading for them that has actual stakes like why they believe it will be beneficial to take the time to read the book
