I have rewatched MGSV trailers multiple times, and I find this combination of 5+ minutes videos with scenes and music building the right atmosphere to be amazing. The other thing is, that for some, they created fake expectations of what story was going to be about.

Death Stranding first trailer is also great, it's just one scene from the game, and you have no slightest idea what's going on.

I always enjoyed the Portal 2 trailers with Cave Johnson

Panels

Bot Trust

Turrets

Boots

Perpetual Testing Initiative

The Mechanicus trailer is maybe the greatest ever.

I also fondly remember the Skyrim reveal trailer, because the music was so epic when I saw it for the first time, in ancient times.

How did no one say this yet? Duke Nukem Forever E3 2001 trailer

The Battlefield 1 trailer.

I had never played a Battlefield game, and that trailer got me pumped enough to buy it at launch. Also, WWI was such an interesting (and horrifying) war.

Here are a few that stuck in my mind throughout the years:

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is a fantastic trailer but it's almost cheating because Answers is such an unbelievable Uematsu banger that it carries it on music alone.

[–] Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

( ゚Д゚)But no one said we can't cheat!

Both of the Halo 3 and Halo Reach trailer campaigns were fantastic

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah my vote would be pretty much any live-action Halo trailer, especially from Halo 3 and ODST.

Came here to say this. The Halo ODST and Halo 3: Believe trailers have always been favorites of mine.

The trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution has to be one of my favorites

[–] HarvesterOfEyes@piefed.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

Such a great game, and such a shame we'll probably never get to play the conclusion to its story.

[–] simple@lemm.ee 3 points 2 weeks ago

Fallout 4's announcement trailer still gives me chills. Shame the game itself never lived up to it.

The Satisfactory trailers

CrossCode - Console Release Date Trailer

One of my favorite tracks on the OST, and I love how they've synced all the cuts to the music. It's a fantastic sizzle reel showing off little bits and pieces of everything that's cool in this game.

The most excited I have ever been for a trailer was when I saw an ad for Secret of Mana on TV; and it's entirely because it was the first time I ever saw a video game advertised on TV and not just in magazines.

Assassin's Creed: Unity had one of the best trailers of all time, and it will take something truly special to dethrone it from my personal nr 1.

[–] Skua@kbin.earth 1 points 2 weeks ago

I don't even like ESO much, but the trailer for Elder Scrolls Online's High Isle expansion.

he should have won

The undeniable top spot has to go to the Battlefield 1 trailer, which stands at 74m views over the last 8 years.

The Halo 3 Believe trailer is up there as well.

A personal favorite of mine is the God of War: Ascension Super Bowl Ad

Honorable mention goes to a really solid recent trailer as well is the one for the long-awaited release of Satisfactory 1.0

A favorite from this year is the trailer for Doom: Dark Ages. Excellent pacing. Weapons I’m waiting to get my hands on. It makes it clear how it’s going to set itself apart from the previous entries, and I’m hyped for it.

An all-time classic will forever be the first trailer for Zelda: Twilight Princess. At the time it was the right trailer for a new Zelda. People wanted a ”proper” Zelda after Wind Waker, and what they presented was just mind blowing. In the end I didn’t enjoy TP as much as I wanted, but that first trailer still gives me goose bumps. At least TP made me find a new appreciation for WW.

The Armored Core trailers are probably my favourites:

The thing that stands out the most is the sense of how enormous and powerful these mechs are.

No Man's Sky trailers for updates are pretty good. Always watch them even if I don't play it much. All gameplay, great transitions, great background music.

FFVIII or Silent Hill

Nothing will ever top the Modern Warfare 2 Infamy trailer.

Imagine it is 2009 and you have no idea what the future of COD looks like, no clue what is going to happen in MW2, and you see this trailer.

Farm Sim trailers are very enjoyable, both the newer rock music ones

and the cute music ones

As for all time favorites, the Warcraft 3 trailer still lives in my head. Even remember the words.

the Portal trailer is very good.

The E3 reveal trailer for The legend of Zelda: Twillight Princess still remains one if the most exciting moments in gaming history. I still get goosebumps when I see Miyamoto holding up the sword on stage to thundering applause. Even though the game is among the lesser memorable ones in the series now.

I also remember rewatching the Breath of the Wild E3 gameplay trailer dozens of time. It's just so perfectly paced and cut with a perfect music score to go with it. But even though the game turned out to be as great as the trailer promised I couldn't bring myself to buying the sequel. I'm just so done with Nintendo that I couldn't really enjoy it.

Sonic Adventure will always stand out to me
