"I don't even know you. You're not the man I married 5 years ago."

[–] LifeOfChance@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

It's a very select group of individuals who can pull it off. My friends tried and was sent on their way within 10 minutes. Unless the therapist is just interested is cashing out on the prank it may not go as intended

You can even say "Sometimes it feels like you do not even know me at all!" In the sessions

[–] iheartneopets@lemm.ee 1 points 6 days ago

Following up with an "You're right, I don't know you"

[–] metaStatic@kbin.earth 60 points 1 week ago (1 children)

show up with a different date to each session and act like it's the same person

[–] Jake_Farm@sopuli.xyz 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"He doesn't even remember our anniversary."

[–] CMDR_Horn@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

“She doesn’t remember it either!”

[–] Randelung@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

I don't even know what we're doing here. What was your name again?

Does this feel like a joke to you?

We're wasting all of our time right now.

... idk how long I could last, honestly.

The therapist would probably care little, you are still paying them. Maybe they would even try to see how long it takes you to notice that they already know and just doing it because they keep getting money

As a therapist, I would immediately notice, but would instead use the opportunity to work through their need for attention from strangers and why they use pranks and humor to hide their true emotions. They're still paying me to help them, so I would. "Why do you feel like you need the excuse of a third person to dare going to therapy?"

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 2 points 6 days ago

Maybe they just thought it would be funny

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

Well it is an expensive date/hobby

[–] ByteOnBikes@slrpnk.net 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Couples therapy in my area would easily cost about $150/hr.

[–] Landless2029@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Cheaper than dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Edit: schedule date. Meet at coffee shop. Book a 1 hr appt. Spend the hour. Hit a bar with date to laugh/cry over drinks.

per person, or total?

[–] zaph@sh.itjust.works 38 points 1 week ago

Has there been an increase in useless circles lately?

[–] bionicjoey@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 week ago

I'm a bit sick of how there are only like 9 bios in all the dating apps. This one is number 6. No creativity, no information about yourself, just copy something funny you saw somewhere.

[–] merari42@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

For me it almost sounded like a premise for a modern romcom.

[–] Melonpoly@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Were they end up falling in love for real

Yes, that is generally how rom coms work

[–] Oha@lemmy.ohaa.xyz 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Getting therapy isn't easy on this side of the pond either from what I've heard, but it's possible

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

The famous multi-hemisphere diagonal pond. Yes I've heard of it

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 13 points 1 week ago

They would probably notice immediately

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Alright ladies, my insurance will totally cover this 1x per week for an in network licensed family therapist,

Cause this sounds like a very good use of that benefit. You wanna talk about improved mental health. This will do it
