Latest denial of disaster funding comes as Trump has repeatedly stated he wants to eliminate FEMA

Donald Trump has denied federal disaster relief funds to the people of Arkansas, which saw dozens of people die from a series of deadly tornados last month, so legislators are pleading for him to reconsider.

More than 40 people have been found dead after a series of tornados and severe storms hit Arkansas and neighboring states Mississippi and Missouri in March, according to CNN.

Given the scale of the disaster, the state’s Republican governor, Sarah Huckabee, requested federal disaster aid as a part of an emergency declaration. That request was later denied by the Trump administration.

They'll blame liberals and vote for Trump. I'd bet money on it.

Look, I do not relish in other people's suffering. But at some point there is only so much I can do and say, before the fruits of your choices are 110% on you.

This is obviously a statement on the vocal majority of the region. For those that aren't idiot assholes and are suffering, I am sorry and please let us know what we can do.

ms huckabee rolling back child labor laws should solve some of the problems, right republicans.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 15 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Time to pull yourselves up by your bootstraps.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 5 hours ago

ms huckabee, you were once part of his administration then he threw you under the bus.

Will Republicans ever learn not to vote for Republicans?

[–] anonymouse2@sh.itjust.works 15 points 9 hours ago

They're not voting for Republicans. They're voting against Democrats. And, no, they will never learn.

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 17 points 14 hours ago

Nope. They’ve inbred themselves too far into stupidity.

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 3 points 11 hours ago

They would be much more able to do so if we replaced First-past-the-post voting and let them vote outside the two party system with the ability to transfer their vote if their first choice didn't win. No spoiler effect.

But we can't seem to get these reforms passed in most blue states ran by self proclaimed democracy defenders in the democratic party. How can we expect red states to pass it?

Aren't you happy you voted trump?

I'm sure these people are defending trump, still, saying it's for the best. Trump could just piss in their mouth and they'd say "that k you master for refreshing me!"

[–] arschflugkoerper@feddit.org 11 points 13 hours ago

they better say thank you

Its pathetic that the Fayetteville area goes red.

[–] Soulg@ani.social 4 points 9 hours ago

Yes, but not surprising. I'm in Rogers and it was very obvious that there was no shot for Harris, even though I see plenty of cool bumper stickers and pride flags outside houses.

[–] lilsolar@sh.itjust.works 7 points 13 hours ago

You fell for it again award

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

More FO or leopards? Or both

This is in preparation for California wildfires.

He's setting precedent with an exponentially smaller disaster in a red state, as political cover for future denial of relief funds for the much larger Blue State seasonal disasters.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 38 points 16 hours ago

Conservatives do not rely on and do not need precedent.

[–] Ceruleum@lemmy.wtf 13 points 15 hours ago

So much winning!

[–] Eldritch@lemmy.world 53 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (9 children)

I have empathy for those in the state South of us. But very little sympathy. Your population of morons voted for this. Just like ours did. You get what you voted for. So have the day you voted for.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 5 hours ago

Ms huckabee was originally part of his 1st admin before trump had no use for her anymore.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 53 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

I would feel SO much better if they even had an inkling that they have done this to their own selves.

[–] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 31 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Dumb fucks are down there buried in rubble and blaming Obama.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

My realtor thinks everything is Biden’s fault

Why do you do business with them? You can vote with your wallet with a hell of a lot of the transactions that occur in your daily life.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 11 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Because I didn’t know in the beginning and now the process is almost done. I’m not sacrificing my first house because I want to stick it to one misguided individual who is too susceptible to propaganda

[–] grue@lemmy.world 12 points 16 hours ago

I hope you at least give him a hearty "fuck you" right after the ink dries at closing, though.

[–] Eldritch@lemmy.world 10 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

That's definitely the most frustrating part about this. They will turn around and gleefully blame the victims of this. Rather than taking responsibility themselves.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 6 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Even while they ARE the victims

Sadly, this point will be lost amongst the louder voices shouting accusations of blame at Obama and Biden.

[–] Eldritch@lemmy.world 10 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Or DEI, or immigrants, or trans, or or or any of the other non threats they've been programmed to fear.

[–] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 10 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

I heard something once, about a Jewish community manufacturing a laser that will work from orbit? From what I can understand, its primary purpose is to manufacture red herring arguments.

I tried, but voting Democrat in Arkansas is just pissing in the wind.

We're getting what we deserve, and reaping what we've sown. Don't pity us.

[–] Soulg@ani.social 3 points 9 hours ago

Nobody who voted D deserves it.

[–] dadarobot@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 12 hours ago

[–] PotatoLibre@feddit.it 17 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Climate change is fake news.

The storm is fake news.

Nobody died, its all staged.

[–] Darkard@lemmy.world 13 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

So many crisis actors. It must have cost Biden a fortune.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

Those crisis actors are clearly committing terrorism. And probably anti-semitism.

You get what you voted for. You asked for a president who came out and said point blank that he does not care about you and only cares about your vote. Your hatred and stupidity brought you here now own it while we all point and shake our heads.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 8 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Are Huckabee's bootstraps broken or somethin'?

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Huckabee hasn't been able to reach her bootstraps in decades.

[–] MyTurtleSwimsUpsideDown@fedia.io 8 points 17 hours ago

I’m sad to see it, but this is what they voted for. This is what republicans have been fighting for for years, decades even, and Arkansas’ entire federal delegation is republican.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 7 points 18 hours ago

Republicans deny aid as well, he can't do any of this alone.
