That was a wild ride, but it stuck the landing.

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 72 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I mean the title question would be super illegal. The thing he did is probably fine if its in a bag and especially fine if he didnt hit anyone with it.

[–] Dabundis@lemmy.world 59 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

It probably could constitute assault, even without hitting someone

[–] kubica@fedia.io 73 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I'd say about the same level of assault than the christians gathering to call other people murderers.

[–] SidewaysHighways@lemmy.world 35 points 2 weeks ago

It's too bad the 'powers that be' will probably get really mad something was thrown near their sister or something

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, "they deserved it" isn't really part of the law.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I propose we pass a law that officially makes "he needed killin' " a legally admissible affirmative defense. If you can prove to the jury, beyond a reasonable doubt, that someone just needed killin', you can't be convicted of murder.

I'm sure this won't have any horrific negative side effects whatsoever...

[–] OrnateLuna@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Well tbf cops already do that and it's going as well as you expect it to

[–] AbsoluteChicagoDog@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

Nah cops don't need to justify their murders to get away with them

[–] zout@fedia.io 3 points 2 weeks ago

Don't be so sure about that, consider that raw chicken will be a good carrier for diseases. On the other hand, if those christians aren't vaccinated they would also qualify for this.

[–] Toribor@corndog.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

It's biological material too which often has legal implications.

[–] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago

yeah, battery

[–] PhilipTheBucket@ponder.cat 37 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Throwing something at a person is battery, pretty much everywhere in the US.

You could also make an argument that it's "discharging bodily fluids" or some weird kind of "disturbing the peace" type of offense predicated just on disturbing other people around you, but it definitely would be battery.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (3 children)

What if you throw a car battery at someone? Is that double battery?

[–] TopRamenBinLaden@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)
[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

That's a AA battery

[–] Pickle_Jr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Only if the battery is charged

[–] knightmare1147@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Are they discharged if it's not?

[–] Gutek8134@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Infinite battery glitch found. Time to plug them into my controller.

[–] nnullzz@lemmy.world 55 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Eggs would be more akin to a fetus than raw chicken.

Maybe setup a food truck across the street making breakfast sandwiches and see how many of those protestors buy. Then donate all the profits to the clinic.

[–] leftzero@lemmynsfw.com 31 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, but even these assholes wouldn't be dumb enough to mistake an egg for an aborted human fetus; some minced chicken entrails, though, that they might actually fall for.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago

I like the cut of your jibs

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 42 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

What's the deal with Tumblr screenshots always including replies that add nothing to the humor lol

[–] FrostyCaveman@lemm.ee 51 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

It’s basically a laugh track for the meme

[–] mlg@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The hero we didn't know we needed, we didn't know we had.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 14 points 2 weeks ago

You’d probably get prosecuted for terrorism if you tried that, just on vibes

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

To the original question:

Would that be considered desecrating a corpse?

[–] zout@fedia.io 19 points 2 weeks ago

It depends on the age of the fetus, and the local laws. In the Netherlands where I live the fetus is by law not considered a baby (not sure on the terminology) until the 24th week of pregnancy, so anything before that is considered not to be a human body (again, by law).

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

So the real question is whether it's illegal to throw a baggie full of raw chicken.
