I got Psychonauts 2 bundle for ten bones.

See ya' in four days, everyone!

[โ€“] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Report back! I'm tempted to snag it.

[โ€“] EccTM@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't think you could go wrong for a tenner, I loved that game from start to finish. I watched all of the DoubleFine PsychOdyssey dev diary about making it afterward too, very enjoyable.

[โ€“] kalpol@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

The first one alone is still worth a tenner. Absolute gem of a game.

[โ€“] domi@lemmy.secnd.me 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

If you like 3D platformers, you will love Psychonauts 2. One of the best in recent years.

Psychonauts 1 aged poorly by modern standards. It is worth playing for the story though or if you can power through some 2000s 3D platformer jank.

[โ€“] kalpol@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

That's unfair to Psychonauts. I just finished it and it might be a tiny bit clunky in spots but the gameplay and level design still holds up quite well.

[โ€“] PunnyName@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

FF7 remake is half off, likely max discount for the next decade

And it's still 40 โ‚ฌ... Oof

Finally picked up the Cyberpunk DLC. Got Pacific Drive as well.

Still deciding on:

Dead Cells - I found two roguelites I actually like this year (Dome Keeper and Hades) and want to see if I can go three for three.

Dragons Dogma and Stalker - Games with recent sequels I've never touched. For $5/piece I'm tempted to give both a try.

Dying Light 2 - Been in the mood for some dumb open world fun recently, and I refuse to buy anything from Ubisoft to fill that void. This seems decent and I liked the first one.

[โ€“] GoodEye8@lemm.ee 7 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

The older stalker games are worth it only if you want the story. If you want to experience the gameplay you can download stalker Anomaly for free. Anomaly is a standalone mod that combines the 3 stalker games into one (minus the story) and adds cut content and has been "modernized" over time. It's a much better experience than the original games and the community considers it THE way to play Stalker, and ontop of being a mod it also has a healthy modding community.

I don't remember how beginner friendly it might be (probably not very because the mod gives you a lot of customization options before you even start the game) but I'm sure there are some beginner guides on YouTube. And for the price of free the only question is how much time you're willing to invest to play Stalker. And if you think the OG games will be much easier, not really. No matter what stalker game you start with you're bound to meet the relatively steep learning curve.

I finally picked up Cyberpunk. GOG sale is going on now as well...

[โ€“] yogthos@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 weeks ago

Dead Cells is an amazing game, can definitely recommend. I spent many hours on it.

[โ€“] domi@lemmy.secnd.me 3 points 3 weeks ago

Hey, I also picked up the Cyberpunk DLC.

Pacific Drive was pretty good!

[โ€“] Fidel_Cashflow@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago

these are all solid picks and I can't see you going wrong with any of them, tbh!

[โ€“] MarcomachtKuchen@feddit.org 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Dragons Dogma is really janky. But if you can see past the jank there is arguably one of the most unique RPGs inside the jank. I highly enjoyed it.

[โ€“] sockenklaus@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

I agree! I tried it many many years ago on PS3 when it was for free on Playstation Plus. I just couldn't get into it and put it away... Then a few years ago I gave it another try on PC and pretty much immediately loved it. It's funny because when I played it on PS3 I had much more spare time to spend on games and get into them so one would think that I would be much more critical and selective nowadays...

Dying Light 2 - Been in the mood for some dumb open world fun recently, and I refuse to buy anything from Ubisoft to fill that void. This seems decent and I liked the first one.

I played through Dead Island 2 with a buddy recently, definitely recommend giving that one a shot if you like Dying Light. Haven't played 2 though.

[โ€“] Kaijobu@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I got Metaphor ReFantazio. I was so hyped about this, but the higher price made me wait. Being reduced by 25% was enough for me to immediately purchase it. I only played 2 hours of it, but I already love it. It will be a great adventure, I'm sure of it.

[โ€“] MimicJar@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

The last racing game I played was 10+ years ago, Need for Speed Underground. I really enjoyed it. Would I enjoy this?

[โ€“] Zahille7@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I just looked and there are some really good deals. The first Cities game is only $3, and the complete reboot collection of Tomb Raider games (including DLCs) is only $11

I'm leaning toward the Tomb Raider games tbh

The new series of Tomb Raider games are quite well done. A mix of brutal survivalist scavanging and combat, along with some interesting puzzles that feel at least plausible. The amount of uzi ammunition and pre lit torches you found in ancient sealed tombs back in the original game always bugged me. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Just picked up https://store.steampowered.com/app/433340/Slime_Rancher/

Top review was "best relaxing game" and I need that in my life right now ๐Ÿ˜‰

[โ€“] Gumus@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Good pick, Slime Rancher is an amazing game. Relaxing though... sure feels like it at the beginning, but those little shits can get infuriating at times. Buy a roof on your pens.

[โ€“] sunshine@lemmy.ml 6 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Currently considering Alien: Isolation at 75% off/ $10, Vampire Survivors at 25% off / $3.75...

[โ€“] Broken@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago

Alien Isolation is one of the greatest games. It does start slow, but they're just setting you up for the nightmare ahead.

Alien Isolation is sooooo gooood.

[โ€“] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 weeks ago

This girl with the cat cap is a mascot for the autumn sales? A steam's mascot? This character appears more than one time if I recall correctly

[โ€“] JoeKrogan@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

I want to get RDR 2 , Hogwarts , stray and no mans sky but I still have lots to get through so I can wait. Maybe I'll pick up something in the winter sale.

Elden ring and armored core not being on sale was a disappointment

[โ€“] marlowe221@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Seriously considering Sins of a Solar Empire 2โ€ฆ

[โ€“] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

If you liked first one you will also like the second because it's basically same game. If you expected something more, like for example campaign, likely not.

Debating on Black Mesa and Dome Keeper

[โ€“] sep@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Black mesa is a no brainer. Loved it as much as the original.

[โ€“] considine@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago

I'm in too deep on Dome Keeper. It's a good little game.

[โ€“] Nemoder@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Dome Keeper isn't too bad. Hoping they add co-op soon. Their next game looks amazing though:

[โ€“] LiveLM@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 weeks ago

Ohhhh so they're the ones doing this game huh?
I saw it some time ago on Lemmy and forgot to add it to my wishlist. Thanks!

[โ€“] germtm_@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

i picked up Serious Sam Siberian Mayhem, Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Push the Cat with WASD.

[โ€“] Serialchemist@ttrpg.network 1 points 3 weeks ago

Just picked up Hogwarts Legacy, Blockbuster Inc. and Infection Free Zone!

[โ€“] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 1 points 3 weeks ago

Nothing really is speaking to me :(

Nine Sols is supposed to be very good, but it's a slim discount and I'm not really in the mood for the genre.

I think I want a like party RPG like bg3 or pillars of eternity, but I think I've played all the acclaimed ones.

At least I've still got guild wars 2 keeping me company. It's old, but reliable. No subscription or power treadmill, so I keep going back to it. Highly recommend
