Does that make me homochromatic?

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 57 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yep, your rainbow flag should be in the mail. Unfortunately, all the stripes are the same color.

The sheer amount of people that have never heard this word, don't know what I just said or think I'm talking sexual when I tell them my husky has heterochromia instead of 'two colored eyes' is off the charts.

Isn’t there something the Christians can do? Conversion therapy or something?

Thoughts and prayers! It’s God’s plan.

My dog has "sectoral heterochromia", which is 2 different colors in the same eye. Dog tax proof:

[–] randint@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 5 points 6 months ago

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 28 points 6 months ago (1 children)

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 17 points 6 months ago

Fun fact, David Bowie had a very cool-looking and rare form of heterochromia:

Comparatively boring fact: I have a much more common and less cool form of heterochromia, hazel eyes:

Conclusion: David Bowie and I are nonidentical

[–] rooster_butt@lemm.ee 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

David Bowie didn't have heterochromia. He had a permanently dilated pupil due to an injury.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

He might have had heterochromia due to an injury rather than congenially, but heterochromia is what irises of more than one color is called regardless of the reason. It's not a specific condition.

Hence hazel eyes and having one blue and one brown eye both being heterochromia.

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.ml 3 points 6 months ago

Then there's central heterochromia:

central heterochromia

Reposting from Reddit is gross

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 3 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Those with heterochromia are no homo. Chromia.

Downvotes for reddit dribble, but now that the cost of photography has gone down, I am in favor of more pictures explaining what things aren't. Like when you look up aardvark on Wikipedia, sure it could start with a picture of an aardvark, but why not also include at least a short list of things that definitely aren't Aardvarks?
