So two-part question here:

If you've played Watch Dogs: Legion, did you like it?

And especially, did you like it for the story?

This makes me think the game is not primarily about the story: https://opencritic.com/game/7405/watch-dogs-legion

I played WD2 and enjoyed that quite a bit though never finished it.

I want the next game I play on my PC (via Steam, etc...) to have a great story. Recommendations greatly appreciated.

Other games I've played with what I thought were great stories: Psychnoauts 2, Portal 2, Soma (though I'm not really into scary games), Firewatch, Metro all, The Talos Principle

Cheers,

You could try Cyberpunk 2077, Dishonored 1&2, Prey before giving any money to Ubisoft. + Half-Life 2, BioShock trilogy, Fear if you want more action.

If you aren't against rpgs go play Dragon Age:Origins, Mass Effect trilogy or Baldur's Gate 3. Or Alpha Protocol ?

If oldies doesn't scare you : Vampire Bloodlines, Deus Ex, Half-Life, Baldur's Gate 1&2, Planescape Torment, Thief 1&2, and some point'n click games also...

CyberPunk

My son keeps telling me I should play that and someone else here did too. I will add this to my queue for sure.

DA: Origins has been in my list forever and I just... I dunno ... didn't quite sede it as my type of game. I've been wrong about that many times though so next time it's on sale, I'll grab it.

Played the Deus Ex series and all of the Valve games many times.

Thief looks interesting. Thanks!

You're welcome. You could also try Systemshock 1&2 it's the same era as Deus Ex.

Oh wow, I remember receiving System Shock 2 as a gift wayyy back in the day, trying to play it and my PC at that time wasn't up to the challenge. I have to admit, I'm not really inclined to go back and spend time with games from that era now. (I tried to play the original Deus Ex recently and was just appalled at the janky combat) but thanks for the idea.

I will admit by today's standards Origins is a bit dated, and it can feel janky but I think it was one of bioware's better games in a single package

6 origins that each have their own effect on the story and has some enduring characters - it is a good fantasy story that has your character choices play out in the final stretches and it does feel good seeing results of that play out in way that, to me at least felt meaningful.

Cool. Is Cyberpunk stable now? I heard some bad things early on.

It is and I never have stability issues on PC. Bugs yes and the 3 years update have getting rid of the most annoying ones.

Edit : fixed, thank you didn't pay attention and tick the box by mistake.

Yeah it's pretty good now, it's not the greatest game like people hyped it to be but it's a decent one
