Honestly, strategy wise, she's fighting an obese, very old, demented, rageful man. People make fun of her, and fuck her politics, but she's one cheeseburger away from being the Republican candidate with the most electoral votes who also has a pulse.

I mean a cheeseburger stands a greater chance of delivering justice than the entire "justice" system...

What a farce of a country this is.

[-] fine_sandy_bottom@discuss.tchncs.de 22 points 4 months ago

This is exactly what I was thinking.

Trumps bid for presidency is a bit of a house of cards. Any number of things could topple him. Even if Trump is in the white house for 3 years, she's still getting face time.

Trump has a phylactery in every golf course.

No cheeseburger can slay him.

[-] dulce_3t_decorum_3st@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago

phylactery

"A small leather box containing Hebrew texts on vellum, worn by Jewish men at morning prayer as a reminder to keep the law."

That phylactery?

[-] TheMongoose@kbin.social 34 points 4 months ago

More likely the D&D/fantasy version. Harry Potter called them “horcruxes”. Keep your soul in a box and whatever happens to your body, you can’t truly die.

But I didn’t know they were based on Jewish mythology, so thanks for that TIL!

[-] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I’m not sure that the phylactery in D&D is based on Jewish practices. The word comes from Latin and referred to something sacred/guarded and could be a place or even an amulet.

The term is being used appropriately in D&D and Jewish peoples also use it for their beliefs. Another guy posted he might stop using it because of the Jewish connotations, which that’s totally up to them but I don’t think it’s exclusive.

Then again, perhaps Latin created a word from seeing Jewish practices. I don’t know. I’m just a dude on the internet.

[-] KnightontheSun@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Thank you, Mr Dude on the Internet! As is tradition, I will take your word at face value completely without reservation!

Ditto, I had no idea. I knew them as the thing you had to find to defeat a lich in D&D.

Sounds like it's an insensitive term so I'll try to stop using it that way.

Fingers crossed for Dia B. Tuss

Imagine the look on the other candidates if trump keels over and Haley wins by default.

I wonder if they’d run trump’s corpse just to show their platform on women’s rights?

[-] ArtVandelay@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

I wouldn't put Weekend at Donnie's past them.

[-] Godnroc@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Honestly, him being completely silent while president would improve his approval rating.

[-] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

If he knew how to shut his fucking face hole he'd have won the 2020 election.

But his constant diarrhea mouth lost him a lot of support.

It also gained him a lot of support which is honestly terrifying

I think there's not a chance, USA has some of the best healthcare in the world, they will keep him alive for a very long time.

[-] SeaJ@lemm.ee 10 points 4 months ago

Best healthcare in the world if you are rich which Trump does indeed fall under even if he fraudulently inflates his networth.

[-] DoomBot5@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

Emphasis on the keep alive. He doesn't need a functioning brain, otherwise he would have lost out already.

[-] littlebluespark@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

In before they deepfake his subhuman pile of wet shit and carry on like the Lizard of Oz.

[-] stoly@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Actually not true. The richest person in the US has the same life expectancy as the poorest person in the UK. Being wealthy in the US doesn't help as much as it does in some places.
