There is always something you can do. Come down off the ketamine and pay attention to the controls, Major.

I'm primarily interested in the opinions of people who are not at least one of male/hetero/cis; it's too easy for the privikeged group to delude themselves about how good they are behaving.

I personally don't think it matters much at all, except in channels that specifically identify that way. However, I am male, hetero, cis, so its possible I'm just clueless.

Be patient, and let the cat make the decisions. Food helps, but it's not enough, if you feed the cat but are not present, you are just feeding the cat (and who knows what else). We have had a few main pets that were strays. They make great pets IMO, they really appreciate the life you are giving thaem

Ableton Live. Max looks interesting, and one of these days I am going to try it out.

I pursued Zen seriously for a while, I still practice at times, should do it more.

I play keyboards, have a decent electronic piand which doubles as a MIDI controller. I like prog, the nerdier end of techno/electronica/hip-hop, and classical. LCD Soundsystem, Stereolab, King Crimson.

Music (but not a very good musician), other cultures and international travel, history.

I am looking for a self-improvement alternative to doom scrolling social media in my downtime. In the past, I have done mostly career oriented courses (tech/computer science), but I'm tired of those, want to branch out. Has anyone taken a MOOC class, not necessarily for any specific objectibe, that was especially good?

  1. Control and privacy. The server does exactly what I choose, not somebody's business model.
  2. Once you have other users, it's not a hobby anymore. People are not amused by downtime.
  3. The w3schools.com tutorials have been good for me.

I already am the best at something, but if I tell you, somebody would know...

Iced espresso. Double shot in a glass of ice, top up with cold water to taste. A little sugar. My own roast. I think it's excellent.

I have been trying to reduce distractions from my phone. I have installed a simple launcher (Niagara), and turned off system notifications on almost all apps.
The good news is that now I can pick up my phone, do something I wanted to do, put it back down and get on with what I was doing. However, sometimes I want to see if I have messages or whatever, without having to open 6 LPs to check each one. Does anyone know of an app that can collect all those, that I can open only when I want to look at them?

It's time for the annual "look how much weight I gained over the holidays 😞", and New Year's resolution to lose weight. Does anyone use a food and exercise tracker app on their Android device? How is your experience with it?

Do you use a device with open source Android firmware? What device, which distro and what do you do with it? I have a Samsung tablet with LineageOS and apps from F-Droid. Other than displaying dire warnings about the unlocked bootloader every time it cold boots, It's great for a "recliner system": email, Web browsing, E-book reader and MP3 player. What do you have, what do you use it for, and how well does it work for you?

If you are at work in the middle of the night when the clocks change, do you work an extra hour in the spring and one less in the fall?
