That’s the republicans plan.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 47 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Putin's plan, the Republicans are just following orders.

[–] YtA4QCam2A9j7EfTgHrH@infosec.pub 15 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Nah, the republicans have just as much agency as Putin. These fuckers are fascists and fascists love to give aid to other fascists ever since Hitler helped Franco win Spain.

[–] EatYouWell@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Nah, Putin has a bunch of dirt on them. The DNC isn't the only one who had their emails hacked.

You said the quiet part out loud.

The EU should never let this happen. Europeans love to shit on the US on how much we spend on the military and simultaneously form a queue to get on knees for sucking uncle sam dry when they need defences. Help your neighbors you leeches or fuck off. Dont put this on the US.

The European spendings and commitments for Ukraine are higher than US. As it should be.

Here is the tracker: https://www.ifw-kiel.de/topics/war-against-ukraine/ukraine-support-tracker/

Good thing this post is how the war can be lost if the US delays funds and not EU.

[–] Diplomjodler@feddit.de 8 points 9 months ago (3 children)

For years the consensus was that the Europeans would accept US hegemony in exchange for protection. But that's no longer the case. But tell me, what exactly will the US gain from having a more assertive and militarised Europe?

[–] tacosplease@lemmy.world 13 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It makes SO MUCH sense for the US to spend money here. We spent 5% of our military budget for Ukraine to take out around half of Russia's army. So 5% to kneecap our biggest adversary is too expensive for the Republicans? Conservatives are a fucking cancer.

[–] Diplomjodler@feddit.de 8 points 9 months ago

The Russians aren't an adversary of the Republicans. They're their sponsors.

[–] PhlubbaDubba@lemm.ee 2 points 9 months ago

Room to cut military spending on providing Europe's military defense for it?

[–] PatFussy@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (2 children)

Yeah i dont think this was ever true. Even if it was true, why shit on your protection and crying when you need it? The US would gain not having to spend so much on military outposts in the EU/NATO if you guys stopped relying on the US for protection. Increase the taxes on your citizens a bit more to get the military spending you need. This way, the US can finally get some proper healthcare. Everyone wins, right?

[–] Diplomjodler@feddit.de 1 points 9 months ago

Ha ha, you're a funny one. Do you really believe for one second, that any money saved on the military would actually benefit regular people? The US already spend more per head on healthcare than any other country and yet outcomes for normal people are atrocious. Who do you think pockets all that money?

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

It's not military spending in the way of proper healthcare in the US. The current system makes a lot of money for a bunch of people directly and others indirectly and fixing the system would cut off that profit so they are willing to use their wealth to ensure that wealth keeps getting topped up.

Be me, Putin

Man, Fuck NATO, I want a buffer zone between us and them

Idea.gif

I'll just annex some territory and make it a buffer state.

Oh shit, now NATO is closer than ever!

What to do?

[–] Diplomjodler@feddit.de 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Nah, just buy some politicians of your biggest adversary and you're golden. They're cheap. Really cheap.

Tfw some dickhead politician gets outed for corruption and they say they'll fight the charges and they took like, $200k. Like damn man, why are you so fucking cheap? I thought corruption would only start around the multimillion dollar mark.

If you are gonna be a criminal, at least have some standards.
