Original WSJ article is behind a paywall.

A Chinese commercial ship is suspected of deliberately dragging its anchor to cut undersea cables that connect countries over the internet, The Wall Street Journal reports.

International investigators reportedly believe the crew aboard Yi Peng 3, a bulk carrier full of Russian fertilizer, dragged its anchor for more than 100 miles across the Baltic seabed, damaging the cables that run across it. Two different internet links — one between Sweden’s Gotland Island and Lithuania, and another between Finland and Germany — stopped working earlier this month, prompting the investigation by authorities from all four countries and other nations.

[...]

It’s not the first time European officials have suspected Russia of undersea infrastructure sabotage since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. But officials have been hesitant to accuse the Kremlin outright of interference, the Journal reports, in part for fear of further escalating tensions between Russia and Europe.

This article underplays the international games being played on this right now.

The very ship that’s being accused of the sabotage has been stopped by Swedish and Danish coast guard vessels and is currently being gently prevented from moving on. It’s a bit of a stand-off at the minute. Turns out their anchor looks all mangled up, so something has definitely happened.

This is the "fuck around" stage of the international games.

The powerful must be bored from being wealthy and using money to dictate what people should do, so maybe going a bit more hands on to play war.

They could just get a computer, yo. Even an old one would do, even 90s games can handle all their needs.

take all your overgrown infants away somewhere
and build them a home, a little place of their own
the fletcher memorial home for incurable tyrants and kings
they could appear to themselves everyday on closed-circuit TV to make sure they're still real
it's the only connection they feel

Soo... what will they do? Let them off with a stern warning? Or will there be real consequences? Sabotage is pretty high on the list of things that should get you locked up, right?

Better than a bow warning.

An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.

They could send a bill for physical damages and other losses. If ignored, they could levy other… penalties.
