the Taliban spokesperson, Alokozai, claimed that the suspensions had nothing to do with the content of some of the domains, indicating that payment would reverse the suspension.

There's something funny about everyone assuming the domain was taken down for religious reasons, and the taliban having to clarify that they don't give a shit and just want money.

Tbf it does become an ideological dispute if the customers are like "we'd be perfectly willing to pay if the money wasn't going to the Taliban"

Though the .af domain is related to the country of Afghanistan, ‘af’ is also a commonly used abbreviation in the English language, hence its use in non-Afghan sites.
