I actually have this book! 😂

One of the recipes is Beans on Toast. It's ridiculous how simple it is.

....And naturally you have to make the toast, in a toaster, first xD

But yes in general it has well thought out recipes that correctly work to a microwave's strengths, I find most people who hate using a microwave when cooking are using it poorly - expecting it to work just like an oven or a pot on a stove. It's just a different tool is all, not the right tool for all uses, but great when used correctly.

My father says the microwave can't be used for this and that, but he also absolutely refuses to use anything except max power

I was cooking something at low power for like 10 minutes, he saw the micro was done but the food was still not done, so he set it to max for 5 minutes and it came out completely burned...

Please give us some recipes!

Do you have one or two examples of recipes from the book that you think are good?

Maybe I can top that. Not only am I alone with my convection microwave oven, but I've never even used it. It still has original packing materials & owners manual inside it.

I mostly use my microwave for bread storage

Yet still four heaping plates of food?

And...wait a minute, did she microwave that glass of wine as well?

:-P

[–] jawa21@startrek.website 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

How else are you supposed to boil wine?

[–] OpenStars@startrek.website 2 points 10 months ago

I hope she kept it in the box it came in before pouring it into the glass. :-P

When you heat up your spam casserole the lights of Chicago dim.

My parents had an Amana “Radarange” while I was growing up, with chrome dials and wood paneling. It was an absolute tank, probably weighed like 50 lbs and had the power consumption of a small country, but I loved that thing

This works on so many levels

[–] lars@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 10 months ago

Just the one for me. I have only one turntable in my microwave. 😔

Don't be hard on yourself, you can cook real food for your lonely self

"It's not sad! Her daughter has gone on the record saying it's not sad."

It's about a different "Microwave for One" but still feels relevant here.
