Settings shortcut: Comment options > Display navigation bar

Click on that πŸ‘†, it will take you to the setting that you need to turn off.

I still use Sync but Thunder looks really promising. Very nice UI and tons of customization options.

The app (locally, on your device) checks if someone from your contact list installed (became available) on Signal, and if they did, you get notified by the app.

Β

And it shares your phone number with everyone in your contacts who has Signal installed.

Someone can get notified only if they already have you in their contact list (so they already have your phone number), and have Signal installed.

Β

I still wish you could choose if you want others to be notified tho...

Haha, I actually had earbuds on with brown noise playing, but I could still hear the barking faintly. My brain just decided to hyper focus on it :/

A few nights ago I was trying to read a book, and there was a dog across the road who wouldn't stop barking. I was reading a single page for 15 minutes until I was finally able to tune him out.

Right! I was wondering why it stopped working, it's pretty useful.

And watch what exactly?

I have it set so that the dark mode turns on after sunset, but I prefer the dark mode, it just looks better. Light mode has a better visibility (readability) when its brigh outside. I don't have to crank the brightness all the way up to be able to read the text clearly with the light mode.

Serious question: How do you eat it? Egg almost always falls out when I eat it.

I can somehow understand "following" celebrities lives. People like drama, it's not that much different than watching a shitty tv show or reality show. What I will never ever ever understand is people literally worshipping, giving money, defending and praising celebrities. It's straight up stupid behavior.

I've been using Dropbox to sync my KeePass database for years, but I want to switch to Syncthing. My only concern is losing a password due to file versioning. Usually if I have KeePass open on both my phone and PC, there will be a conflict when saving to database, so Dropbox creates a conflicted copy. In some cases that means that I have to merge those databases but I don't lose the password.

What file versioning option should I be using in Syncthing? Should I be worried about losing a password due to conflicted file?

Typing test: https://monkeytype.com
I used Unexpected Keyboard

Any tips on how to improve typing speed? (without using word suggestion and autocorrect)

I'm interested in how fast people who swipe type are.

Also, do those keyboards like Thumb Key and FlickBoard have the potential "to be faster" than the standard keyboards?

I partially know the answer to this question...You cannot host videos directly on Lemmy, but that is understandable, video hosting is pretty expensive, but Lemmy also doesn't support video embeds(videos don't play within Lemmy), which means that you will have to open the link in a new tab/window to watch it. Which is pretty annoying/inconvenient, and that is probably the main reason why video/gif posts are just not popular here. Even if someone does post it, users mostly can't be bothered to open it.

I've read somewhere that this is intentional and that is "privacy and security matter". But that kind of doesn't make sense to me. Alright, I understand how it can be a privacy concern, since the sites on which the videos are hosted can track you. But we switched from Reddit...Not really known for being privacy friendly... People that are concerned about their privacy will know what to do/not to do.

I'm not knowledgable enough to understand how it can be a security matter. I guess if the video is hosted on a malicious site...But wouldn't that be easily solved by simply allowing only trusted, well known sites?

Video is simply the most superior type of media there is, and I think that not having easy access to it on Lemmy is hurting it.

Are there any other reasons why we don't see video posts on Lemmy, and are there any plans to make videos more easily consumable on Lemmy?
