for some strange reason, their icon was located on an instance with 4 users (fry.gs), unlike all other communities. for example, a privacy community where the icon is located on the same server as the community (lemmy.ml)

where could I see it?

Screenshot was taken on lemmy.ml, but icon is not displayed on lemmy.world either -> there is no dependence on the lemmy version.

I like one particular aspect of centralization, in everything else they are flying into the abyss, why am I chatting with you here and not on Reddit, you think, eh?)

hopefully this kind of search will work well over time โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™‚

about mastodon. i love centralized social networks because you can search for any post, regardless of the date of its creation, any person, any community. in mastodon, however, this does not work.

when you register on a small instance, people's profiles are empty, there are no posts, hashtags do not work.

if you register on a medium-sized instance, it's already better, but there are still people who are not subscribed to from someone from your instance and their profiles are empty, and even if someone is subscribed, only posts which are shown are ones that were created after the subscription of person from your instance, older are not, and the person may have been maintaining this account for a lot longer, post history preservation is broken. hashtags are already available, but still not all of them, because not all posts are available too (hashtags work like a filter for post).

if you register on a large instance, small ones will defederate from you and you will see neither their hashtags, nor interesting people, nor their posts.

there is a feeling of distortion of reality, which is a nasty feeling in itself.

Bismuth. Making tiling window management easy. On KDE Plasma. Thanks to this fine person, we have a working Bismuth on Plasma 5.27. It only took the addition of one question mark to the code to bring it to life. Huge kudos to developer. Unfortunately, we will have to build Bismuth from source code. I built a package for Fedora 38, here you go, maybe someone will find it useful! โค๏ธ

I would like to share with you a very cool project that develops drivers for correct operation of Microsoft Surface devices on Linux. I myself use Surface Pro 6 with these drivers and everything works like a charm (battery life is good, cameras work, stylus, keyboard, touchscreen, screen). The developers are gods. From myself, I would recommend using Fedora Linux distribution, as I got the best battery life on it and didn't experience any additional bugs. If you don't like GNOME, you can try spins.

I recently found out that Signal supports stickers created by users and was very happy about it. For me, the easiest way to install was this site. Thank you, Signal developers!
