"Unhoused" is callous and "homeless" is not?

While others are downvoting you for missing the point (possibly because I was already attempting to consider them with empathy and dignity), I probably should have actually said "person experiencing homelessness", and have edited it as such.

In 2020, an entry on homelessness was added to The Associated Press Stylebook noting how "Homeless is generally acceptable as an adjective to describe people without a fixed residence" and that reporters should use person-first language to "avoid the dehumanizing collective noun the homeless, instead using constructions like homeless people, people without housing or people without homes.”

I was so, so waiting for consequences to finally reach this asshole. Reminder that this teenage student and her family *were experiencing homelessness and was apparently exhausted trying to meet all her responsibilities! She needed an advocate, not a bully. This is the type of person that demands respect from you, while not valuing you as a human, beyond considering what you can do for him. I hope he endures excruciating traffic cases until he is removed from the bench...

EDIT: Changed to people-first language.

Then organic organism organizing.

Thank you. I'm not actually that old-school, but back in the day, the only directions that mattered were the changes. "Turn right on the dirt road, and follow it for about 35 miles. Turn right at the crazy magenta and black diner..."

I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention. What were you saying?

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 3 points 17 hours ago

That's... some different issues. I think your phone/vehicle/GPS might actually be haunted. Do you know of any exorcists?

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 1 points 17 hours ago

Woah, that's crazy. I was specifically thinking of I-25! Though it does it with other roads and highways as well...

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 1 points 17 hours ago

Of course! That was only a couple weeks ago...

Yes, it is. I use it every day to visit multiple locations. My personal pet peeve is when it displays "In 1.5 miles, continue straight". On a road where there's no changes in that distance. That's not part of the directions, that's just continuing. Not only is it unhelpful because I can't not do this "step", but I can't see the next, actual step, which could be "In 200 ft, turn left" and won't know which lane to be in.

I can't prove it, but I think at some point they applied an automatic algorithm that added intermediate steps to all their routing (for when a road curves a certain way, etc), but it was too aggressive and not human-reviewed.

Amazing actor. What a loss...

Thanks for cheering me up.

WTF is a risa!? (feddit.nl)

Hello. It's hugely annoying to look at "community information" and find just an in-joke that won't make sense to most people, and no explanation of what this community is about. I'm sure that's fine for those already initiated, but I still don't know what "risa" means!

Don't worry, I also know you don't care that outsiders are kept out-of-the-loop and maybe even want to keep them out...? Well, that's fine; it's your community, but just a reminder that the casual browser will probably filter this community after several spammed posts that don't even clarify where their interests lie...

EDIT: Don't worry, I'm gone, and I've turned off reply notifications... I have even watched Star Trek! But don't fret, your caustic and hostile replies have ensured you're safe from the curiosity of myself and others, they won't bother you any more! Enjoy your gatekeeping...
