This game is either going to be really amazing or really terrible, depending on whether they'll make it online-only live-service.

I'm shocked that HyTale is still in development, it feels like it's been a real long time since it was announced.

You're not alone, I think most people already forgot about it. In a way it's a good thing, because with low expectations it's much harder to end up in a situation like No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk 2077 where the expectations were unachievably high.
