why would I pick christian ubuntu if TempleOS exists

[–] steal_your_face@lemmy.ml 24 points 7 months ago

These Linux cultists will never understand

[–] stevedidwhat_infosec@infosec.pub 22 points 7 months ago (3 children)

Let’s make TempleOS the OS of 2024.

Could be a fun challenge lmao

“I ran temple os for one year and this is how I became Schizophrenic”

[–] yttrium@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 7 months ago

2024 will finally be the year of TempleOS on the desktop

[–] Rootiest@lemmy.world 9 points 7 months ago

We already decided on Hannah Montana Linux.

Maybe you can do TempleOS for 2025

[–] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 5 points 7 months ago

That would be a challenge for sure. IIRC Terry Davis was quite proud of the fact that his OS supported neither network nor sound

Hannah Montana Linux, the only true distro.

[–] felbane@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

The only distribution that's Been There All Along.

[–] Sanyanov@lemmy.world 16 points 7 months ago (2 children)

The Christian edition seems like not 100% joke

[–] jxk@sh.itjust.works 18 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Does the christian edition have daemons though

[–] dan@upvote.au 18 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Maybe they're angaels instead.

[–] tapdattl@lemmy.world 12 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I laughed, then had to explain the joke to my parents, which meant I had to explain what Linux was, what daemons were, and why I was giggling

[–] Sanyanov@lemmy.world 10 points 7 months ago (1 children)

And that's how you introduce family to Linux

[–] tapdattl@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago (1 children)

They happen to be running Fedora Kionite on their desktop since I got sock of troubleshooting windows 😂

[–] Sanyanov@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Truly daemonic of you

[–] Flumsy@feddit.de 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I looked it up, its actually a thing. ubuntuce.com

[–] Sanyanov@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

I know, author provided the links :)

[–] Pantherina@feddit.de 12 points 7 months ago

I would get UbuntuCE and turn it into Satanic, like a softfork. That would be satanic indeed, the evil offspring

[–] spacesweedkid27@lemmy.world 10 points 7 months ago

I like how only the christian version uses gnome as a de, marking how deranged gnome is.

[–] Vitaly@feddit.uk 10 points 7 months ago (4 children)

It is so funny that christian edition is discontinued lol

[–] RmDebArc_5@lemmy.ml 26 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Satanic is discontinued not Christian

[–] Vitaly@feddit.uk 18 points 7 months ago (1 children)
[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 2 points 7 months ago

All Linuces are full of daemons, so rejoice my stannic friend.

[–] geekworking@lemmy.world 14 points 7 months ago

If they kill the Christian Edition, it will be back in a few days.

[–] TheOneWithTheHair@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Satanic edition is copyright 2019. Ubuntu Christian Edition is using 22.04 LTS, which is current.

If you go to https://ubuntusantic.org you are greeted with

[–] emeralddawn45@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 7 months ago

Sunil just had a bad experience with Ubuntu and now he thinks the whole distro is satanic.

[–] DavidGarcia@feddit.nl 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

proof that linux is demonic

[–] nogrub@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

i mean it always has deamons running

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 9 points 7 months ago

What's kinda funny is that the Christian version relies on faith in an outside authority to make moral decisions.

[–] quantenzitrone@feddit.de 9 points 7 months ago

hail satan😈

[–] TootSweet@lemmy.world 9 points 7 months ago
[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 8 points 7 months ago

I'll run them both in VMs on my Hanna Montana Linux

[–] s_s@lemmy.one 8 points 7 months ago

Scoobuntu the only scooby-doo based desktop distribution.

[–] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 6 points 7 months ago

satanic is christian

[–] Smoogs@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago

Cool….circa 1990 game graphics. How quaint.

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago

SAY10 \m/

You say "GOD" and I say "SAY10"

[–] ShitOnABrick@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (4 children)

Jokes aside. christian ubuntu honestly looks really interesting. Mainly the parental controls I wonder if they'll package it all separate to run on any distro out there could be useful for some folk

UbuntuCE is interesting, they have lots of blocking integrated. But thats probably just blocking "unchristian" content lol

[–] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 6 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

There's a built in domain blocker with various tiers, e.g. one blocks ads, the next tier up blocks ads and porn, next one is ads, porn, and gambling etc.

I can't help but notice that they put "Fake News" in a higher blocklist tier than "Social Media"

[–] Chewy7324@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 7 months ago

They suggest normal filtering DNS servers that filter porn, gambling and ads. AdGuard Family and similar.

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

Ubuntu clasic (debian)

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

sudo apt install heaven hell

Let them fight!

[–] snowsuit2654@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 7 months ago

Seems that guildcafe bought the satanic site and then just copied and pasted the text without preserving the hyperlinks.
