As long they don’t add pronouns. God forbid grammar in my games.

[–] drolex@sopuli.xyz 50 points 2 weeks ago

in ~~my~~ the games

Please think of the children

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 42 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

They made body type 1 & 2!!

OH THE HUMANITY!!

I NEED a mod to fix this thing that I literally only see for 5 seconds and then never again! I'm literally crying and shaking from the pain!

[–] ryven@lemmy.dbzer0.com 38 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

The problem with "body type" is that it is actually a gender selector too, but they don't tell you that. If you're body type 1 NPCs refer to you as she/her, and if you're body type 2 NPCs refer to you as he/him. They needed to add a separate pronoun option, but didn't, so right now the body type option is just the gender option but pretending not to be.

[–] PM_Your_Nudes_Please@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Exactly. It feels performative, because they didn’t take it far enough. Cyberpunk 2077 handled it very well, where you can separately choose whether or not your character has breasts, which genitalia they have, voice type, pronouns, etc… Since every single individual part is independently editable, there’s very little room for misgendering.

If body type and pronoun were seperate or if there was more than two body types.. I'd understand it replacing gender a lot more.

The way it's implemented it just feels like they're checking a box that says "Corporate doesn't want us to say the G word."

I wish they would stop acting like snowflakes and then call liberals snowflakes. Liberals just want to treat humans like humans, while conservatives act butthurt about everything.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I couldn't believe the snowflakes complaining in the INZOI discussion section about pronouns and stuff...

Like mother fucker this is a life sim these people exist in life. Have all the bullshit arguments you want about immersion in your medieval fantasy world, you can hide your bigotry behind some fabricated rational there, but you can't even begin to have any sort of "legitimate" argument as to why they don't belong in a life sim.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 6 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

My main complaint about Inzoi is the huge mininum requirements. The second biggest was them patching out the possibility of running over kids with a car

There was a mod posted on Nexus, which has been so controversial apparently, that the mods had to remove the comments section on it, and post a screenshot of why it was taken down at first.

Like, I just DON'T get it man. Who. The. Fuck. Cares. if there are type 1 and type 2 instead of male and female? I created my character, the exact way I wanted (minus scars, but oh well) and am already moving onto Dark Brotherhood quests. Having a blast, actually!

I just don't get the OBSESSION with people's genitalia. At all. Pisses me off. Sorry.

All non-proper objects will henceforth be known as MEEP, embrace the MEEP, extinguish the he/she/him/her/it/they/them/my/mine/their/theirs/our/ours/your/yours/we/yall/yalls.

Watch how well it works.

"""Meep went to the park and meep enjoyed some toast. Afterwards, Alex took meep bread to feed the ducks. Meep enjoyed feeding the ducks. Meep were thinking of getting some ducks of meep meep, but that's a story meep will tell later."""

Clearly superior, solved. Next.

made a racist conservative

Half of TES lore is about racism, oblivion even got a racism table for all the playable races.

I love playing khajiit. The slurs NPCs throw at me make me feel a little more alive.

Morrowind is a nuanced exploration of colonialism, thematically similar to Things Fall Apart. You want to read Morrowind with a copy of The Wretched of the Earth and Orientalism next to you for the full experience.

[–] Montagge@lemmy.zip 21 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm currently playing OpenMW as Argonian and I'm glad a volcanic eruption took that shithole island out. Bunch of jerks!

[–] GoodLuckToFriends@lemmy.today 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That and dragon age as an elf were wonderful, because you play through as the 'superior' race (dark elf / human for morrowind/dragon age) first and don't even realize how fucked up it can be. Each time I just happened to play that order and it was amazing.

[–] PM_Your_Nudes_Please@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

My very first playthrough for Dragon Age was as an elf mage. So I got shit on from both sides; People hated me for being an elf, and were scared of me for being a mage outside of the mage’s tower.

I later replayed it as a human rogue, and it was such a drastically different experience. Not just due to the gameplay changes between the classes, but also because of the sudden and complete lack of constant racism.

And some pathetic people are upset that about the type 1/2 body selection 😂 fucking weird world some people live in.

[–] barnaclebutt@lemmy.world 30 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Look, Dagoth Ur was clearly into some drag.

Is this how you honor the Sixth House, and the tribe unmourned? Come to me openly, and not by stealth. Bitches!

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 23 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

I mean it is kind of questionable to have the only melaninated characters all belong to the same fantasy "race" that all share the same characteristics like being physically gifted at sports...

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ok fine, we can have one more that's got dark skin as a curse.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

In Warcraft orcs were deceived into thinking light skin was a blessing from the gods. In reality it's poisoning from fel demons

"melaninated" makes it sound like these people had melanin added after they were born... like a reverse michael jackson

[–] baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

what's the opposite of "hee hee"? "eeh eeh"?

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 5 points 2 weeks ago

“eeh eeh”?

Sounds like a Canadian

Oh it gets worse.. I've heard picking Redguard gives you a nerf to intelligence.

Yikes if true

I wouldn't know because I picked a Lusty Argonian Maid

[–] gamermanh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Not a nerf, but int is their lowest stat. In Morrowind they start at 30 in Int and Wil, but that's actually roughly the average intelligence of the people of Vvardenfell (given most of them are country bumpkins after all, most people in TES would be fucking stupid). This is actually kinda weird given the lore of Yokudan sword-singers (magic, which would need those stats, but I get the feel it's a balancing thing)

What might be worse is the dark skinned race technically isn't even from Tamriel or Nirn, they're the descendents of the Yokudans, who walked sideways from the last timeline into this one. They're literally not of this world or timeline

There's a god of gender fluid?

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 35 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

All the Daedric Princes appear as male and female at different times, apparently.

[–] dadabean@feddit.org 48 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Except for Hermaeus Mora, who could do that but doesn't give a fuck and appears as random seafood garbage.

[–] Englishgrinn@lemmy.ca 30 points 2 weeks ago

I'm an old man, but I'm 90% sure I'm saying this right: Fucking Based.

"What gender are you?"

"Lovecraftian nightmare tentacles"

"But what pronouns do you use?"

"It/Insanity Screeching"

"Hmm, I'm starting to think we mortals might be using restrictive definitions of shit"

[–] rockerface@lemm.ee 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Reminds me of a character from the Stormlight Archive books that is literally a bodiless spirit inhabiting a giant tower to power and control various magic utilities in the tower. Not only do they not have a gender, they see no reason to have one.

[–] felsiq@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 weeks ago

They also seem to not be super into naming, cuz instead of picking a relevant name (like the Stormfather did) they just go by the Sibling. Add in their activism for entities that can’t protect themselves and they’re just peak goals

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

They usually have a favored appearance, though. Azura, for example, almost never manifests a masculine avatar. Boethiah shifts back and forth so much that their followers in Skyrim are depicted as switching pronouns mid sentence when referring to them.
