For all you CSPAN2 fans out there, if you don't recognize her name don't feel bad, she's a Canadian senator.

Somehow it didn’t register to me that Canada has a senate even though that’s the name of Ottawa’s hockey team.

Oh it's awesome to see posts from Paula Simons on lemmy! For context, she's a Canadian Senator that has an active Mastodon account, and has interacted with constituents directly through the fediverse. I haven't done much of a deep dive into her politics, but she's openly taken questions from the fediverse and brought them to the senate floor, and then shared back the replies from the federal government.

In my opinion, she's a great example of what a politican can be when they leverage decentralized social media.

Sounds like a politician that does their job the way it is supposed to be done.

Plenty do the job. Few do it properly.

More like her please, everywhere.

Her podcast is pretty good too, talks about the contradictory nonsense that is being from alberta

Why is anyone still using Facebook after what happened in 2015?

If Congress were fully briefed on Cambridge Analytica’s methods during the 2016 election, they wouldn’t have needed another ‘shocking’ presentation on the manipulative methods of TikTok.

The fact that so many of them were blown away by the influence an algorithm could have on the vote just reaffirms my impression of their lack of comprehension. The least they could have done was screen “The Great Hack” in the Capitol building.

Inertia, mostly.

99% of the reason most people use shittier and shittier products.

It’s garbage, but I have lock-in with Facebook messenger.

Fun while it lasted? No it wasn't. Myspace was fun while it lasted.

Smut is not in the same category as the other two.

I resent my hardwired love of the female form and human sexuality being conflated with other's irrational hatreds of various peoples.

Make smut, not war! 🍆✌️ 🍑

Come to the Fediverse, we have cookies.

And smut

She's going to have to get over her bigotry against smut

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

She can block the large majority. I'd like to shout out lemmynsfw for being a great, clear, fairly contained domain.

Better late than never.

paula simons is truly a national treasure

As an optimist, I'm still amazed anyone would need even the slightest suggestion to gtfo of facepals once the basics were explained to them.
