Wait, it's a two parter? I just entirely lost interest in watching the first part.

[–] windowsphoneguy@feddit.org 24 points 5 days ago

Yep, they tried to hide that fact quite well

Part 1 is the first act, somewhat expanded. The additions are pretty seamless and add a bit to the story. Its been a long time since I saw the play, but there is only one part I was sure wasn't in the original

spoiler(A Cameo with Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel)

If you are into the play you would probably like it. I went with my wife and daughters and they loved it. I found it enjoyable enough. As someone who isn't super into the play, it was paced well, with some good comical elements.

Part 1 is the first act

Oh my god I just now got what my sister meant by "the act break is super long" and why my mother replied "lol" in the family group chat.

I agree. The additions do not drag the movie down or make the run time feel overly long. I get the hate for splitting movies into multiple parts. Most of them do not deserve it. But, I feel this telling of the story is interesting, and I am willing to watch it in two parts.

Same.

I listened to the original Broadway cast so many times I was concerned I wouldn't like a "cover" of it. After my sister said she liked it, and listening to a song and not finding it objectionable, I had even considered watching it.

This is the first I've heard of it being a two parter, so they hid it well. I'm surprised my sister didn't say anything

Not a chance in hell I'm watching it until part two comes out in physical media so I can watch them both in one go. I hate breaking up the flow, even for a few hours while I wait for the next screening...

Not only is it two parts, the first movie is over 2 and a half hours long.

[–] scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

That's like, the length of the entire Broadway show

[–] koberulz@lemmy.ml 3 points 5 days ago

It's longer than the entire Broadway show including the intermission.

Yep, I have no interest in seeing it in theaters because of their shit move there. I'll acquire it afterwards, if I want to, but even then the insane marketing and the shit Cynthia Erivo pulled against Wicked fans has really bugged me

I hate it when I have to look up the order of how to watch something.

[–] realcaseyrollins@thelemmy.club 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Just stop calling them "Part One" if you're not gonna call the sequel "Part Two" lol

[–] koberulz@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I didn't think the first one was called Part One?

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

During the opening title sequence they definitely snuck in a quick "Part One".
