I like to think that he forgets, keeps trying and then makes a new post about it

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Neil deGrasse Tyson. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Neil's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Neil deGrasse Tyson truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Neil's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Neil deGrasse Tyson tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

I like to think that he is trying to kiss himself somewhere other than the lips every time he sees himself in a mirror and then makes a post about failing.

[–] mysteryname101@lemmy.world 9 points 2 hours ago

He’s totally showing that Twitter peaks in popularity in 2019.

To me its always funny to think Neil forgets, then comes up with the same idea and he posts about it again

[–] BenLeMan@lemmy.world 22 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

That's what happens when you forget but keep trying and then make a new post about it.

[–] crapwittyname@lemm.ee 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Bro definitely really wants to kiss himself on the cheek

[–] Test_Tickles@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 3 hours ago

It's not his cheeks he's aiming for...

The actual message and author aside, did anyone else notice how the text got shorter over time?
From 3 to 1 line over 10 years.
Literally Fahrenheit 451

[–] Spezi@feddit.org 11 points 3 hours ago

I tend to view his actions as a cyclical process, wherein he forgets, but persists in his efforts, ultimately culminating in the creation of a new post each time.

My headcanon is that the old posts slip his mind, he attempts to kiss his cheek, and then tells the world about his discovery

My head canon is that this slips his mind, until his next attempt, and then he informs the world once more.
