Those attending the “Take Our Border Back” rally in Quemado said they were convening as Christians who support putting razor wire and walls on the border and want people to come legally.

Trump 2024 flags flew alongside Christian flags as a throng of people converged on a rural Texas ranch to denounce the president and the people who have crossed into the United States from the nearby Rio Grande.

Many of those who arrived at the border town of Quemado on Friday for the “Take Our Border Back” rally said they were convening as Christians who stand against lawlessness and were doing so peacefully. The musical performers, vendors, political signs and colorful clothing on the rally grounds contrasted with the razor wire, camouflage uniforms and weaponry stationed 20 miles south at the section of border in Eagle Pass.

The group arrived at about 8 p.m. Friday local time and merged onto a two-lane rural road, creating a long queue of mostly personal or rented cars and recreational vehicles.

More people attended a free-houseplant event one afternoon at my workplace this past week than attended this rally. However, it did not make national news. Even much bigger protest rallies in the city here might not even make the local news. Yet right-wingers get together for a pissant little gathering that would be a disappointing turnout for a high school band concert, and the national media is falling all over themselves to give their temper tantrum air time. Why is that? Something, something, "liberal media," right? /s

With sanitized descriptors like "fans who decry illegal immigration" like that's all they're about.

What can you say when a religious group gets together to promote drowning people in a river? Maybe they have misunderstood the second coming of Christ is about judgement.

Jesus gazed upon the mighty river holding back the huddled masses, and said “lol fuck em, white power!”

Religion is a mental illness.

They're true Christians! They want to baptize those migrants. Permanently.

I dunno, but what I do know is that when I was a kid the us flag was red white and blue, not solid blue with the word “trump” on it. It also wasn’t made in China.

Trump's open border policy should be addressed then.

Why do these people choose convoy for their method of demonstration?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

They're big C.W. McCall fans?

Because they don’t get out much, otherwise.

Let them all mass at the border, then gift the first couple of miles into the state to Mexico. Then set up a border guard to prevent them from crossing the new border.
