Look, they aren't doing anything, I should cut their funding..oh shit that wasn't good. I guess I'll spend a third of our taxes on this.
No you cut the funding that goes to poor people, so when they start to revolt, you can use that savings to help fund your security to protect you from the angry poor people, and spend more on security then you would have spent just keeping the poor people happy.
This is what conservatives call, "fiscal responsibility".
this is the worst part of conservativism; even if you were a complete asshole, the money it takes to clean up after someone steals something costs more than just making that available.
