Crows remember faces, so being nice to them is the best option.

We have a major crow infestation in this town, however. We're talking huge flocks of hundreds of crows right downtown, and they shit everywhere. It's a lot worse than pigeon shit too because they eat meat. Rancid meat. They try to keep them away with those inflated wiggly men they have in front of car dealerships except on rooftops. It is only a partial success. The crows just go infest another nearby part of town.

Well I volunteered for years at our local aviary and we had crows coming by to check out our activity a lot. Sometimes we had to hide the smaller birds if we were out showing them, because larger ones would swoop over trying to figure out how to attack them.

If anything I've learned to respect birds and not just assume they're totally harmless.

They're pretty intelligent, they can discern patterns in people's behavior. And yes I know they use tools also. Pretty amazing for so small an animal.

Nope. Terre Haute, Indiana. It was so bad in 2011 that it made the New York Times and it's not much better today. https://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/27/us/terre-haute-battles-crow-problem-this-land.html

I like corvids a lot, but it's kind of nuts. Here's a picture from the local newspaper and it doesn't even come close to showing the problem:

Thankfully, there are only a handful in my neighborhood.
