I love all of the quality of life additions that Radical Red gave to Fire Red. Sadly, I don't enjoy the difficulty.

LocalSend is available on F-Droid as a potential replacement.
Not sure if it would be a complete drop-in replacement, but it's there.

Just change it to a Pal Cube or some other shape that's more fun than a fucking sphere. Problem solved.

If you've got a legit copy then just download a copy and run that on the emulator, no DVD drive needed.
