Donate to a non-profit organization, that's well audited and regulated, that's not a problem.

Donating to a for-profit organization is a huge problem. The incentives are all misaligned. And should not be encouraged.

Sunken City... it just drags on and on and on. I want to finish it, but every time the main mission gets interrupted by a side quest or I can't find the "trigger" for the obvious next step clue I lose the will to play the game.

Qubes is the gold standard

Network namespaces also work

Portmaster is a good gui for this approach

I think the common goal is not to sound smart, but add variety and diversity to the language, so it doesn't sound so boring.

example https://simple.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken

This gets really boring and repetitive

How quickly your culture can absorb new people. If you've got a hundred people who are in culture a, and you integrate 100 people from culture b. Now culture a is 50/50. And it's hard for culture a to maintain its traditional positioning.

If you want to maintain a culture, a people, a language, you need to gate how many people enter the population at any time. So that it can be absorbed.

You similar problems with militaries, how quickly they can ramp up new recruits will still maintaining their previous cadre culture.

Stray was excellent

It's kind of funny. The studio wanted to spin off to be independent. So everybody resigning, is effectively doing the same thing. It's not like there's big heavy machinery they have to move. The studio is the people.

If they start their own company, they have successfully totally spun off

Concord is very polished. But it still seems fairly contained, a bunch of heroes, a handful of maps. Where did the 8 years go?

Firewalk studios has 169 employees as far as i can tell.

They use unreal engine, no single player campaign

Where did the time go?

The game got a lot of hate online, but I've generally found when a game is hated on, there's usually something more. So I decided to actually play the game. I'm 5 hours in

Honestly I like it, for telltale like walking simulator, it sets up the story pretty well, it has some nice sci-fi beats. It's good for what it is. It isn't anything it promises not to be. I think it's a good game, I'd recommend waiting until it goes on sale for $10 maybe. At that price point it's about the cost of a movie and That's where I put it in terms of value pricing.

Some communities, like fark, let you annotate users that you interact with so that when you interact with them in the future have an idea about the previous context with them.

I think that would be a good feature for lemmy, able to add a note/nick name that displays any time you see a comment or post by that user

Not exactly hell divers, but a spoof video to promote their fight against the YouTube algorithm. I thought it was pretty funny and well done. You may enjoy it as well

If you find yourself having to block a user, there should be an option to block all the communities they can moderate as well.

Not a big issue, just a quality of life item

  • Founders - who likes fire?

I posit that the founders are the Thing, but perhaps a group of founders operating in special operations mode. Or they could be children out on founder Rumspringa like Odo was.

Setting up a Synology server, I made the mistake of just buying a UPS that had a USB plug on the back thinking oh this is a solved problem, it must just work. No no far from it.

So the UPS I mistakenly purchased is not compatible with Synology. SRV1KI-E wants to run this weird program called PowerChute.

Anyone have success marrying this into the Synology ecosystem?

It also has a RS 232 serial port, I wonder if there's an off-the-shelf device that would speak serial but output power state via the network or USB.

Nice thoughtful video on the relative effectiveness of flames vs bugs in the new patch.
