I think federation with Meta will improve Mastodon, and doesn't affect Lemmy too much. Threads users will be able to post to our groups, but the discussion will be mostly within communities on existing servers.

The worry is if the bulk of discussion happens in Meta's space. Yes, people will feel like they are missing out if they are on a Masto server defederated with Meta, but there is enough activity from people outside of that to be engaging. On the Lemmy side, (hypothetically) if Facebook Groups were to become like Lemmy communities, I'd be very concerned that most of the discussion would move away from places like here on lemmy.world and other cool servers to Meta's. Then by the time Meta decides to leave or do something stupid then people will not have a place to go to.

Very interesting to see! Thanks for compiling these.

If it was a dollar an hour, then GTAV would be $1208...

But of course, TV AFKing took up a solid chunk of this time... because of forced waiting periods. Sooooo combine a pay-to-play per hour model and forced waiting periods then you've got MTX "Shark cards" with extra annoying steps.

Not on Reddit, that's for sure.

In Chinese/Japanese they may not necessarily start with the same letter but they look kind of similar:

右 vs. 左, might mistake them if you aren't wearing your contacts :P

Well I know I have no expectation of privacy here, but I'd rather open source LLMs train on my words along with proprietary ones, than some company hoarding information and selling it to each other.

That's an EPIC move by Larian.

In North America, large dumpsters for apartments and companies have a colour that is just the company colour, such as Green for WM, GFL, Blue for Waste Connections, Republic, other companies can be Red, Brown, White, Cyan, Orange, Yellow or other colours.

The use is typically denoted by a sticker, sign or by spray painted letters.

For residential curbside bins, blue is typical, but some do it differently if it's separated further into glass, plastic containers and paper/cardboard products. The colours schemes between recyclables and organics is not consistent and varies from city to city.

Making an "ouch" device or basic heater is something I could do.

Even a battery I could make a simple alumium air battery cell. Or lemon battery. But I'd be viewed like a sorcerer asking for foreign ingredients like salt, aluminum, copper and zinc.

I once was that guy who took a cartful of groceries to the self-checkout. The goddamn thing had to call staff no less than 6 times because we couldn't fit everything on that damn scale.

I'm not doing that again.
