Every time someone gets all self righteous and posts stuff about how this isn’t “practical” or “cost-effective” or “actually useful in a real world scenario, where efficacy is needed”.

Well this is spectacular!
I always just assumed the “crazy shit for everyone” theory was the case, they just didn’t have the scientific understanding to describe it. 100 years later those crazy descriptions had been analyzed to death.
But I love the Continuing Crazy Adventures of Captain Kirk theory. That one sounds like it is way more fun. Star Fleet is reading these logs and just trying to figure out what to do with Kirk.
