THIS. I don't care/I don't mind companies like Apple or Google using this scanning technology for cloud-based storage services like icloud or google cloud or whatever. But I do not want this creepy surveillance shit on my personal device. Because sure, one day they say that it is used for CSAM. It's not long before it gets expanded to other stuff like climate crisis protesters/activists or LGBTQ+ content (which need I remind you is illegal in some countries!) or other subjects that the government isn't a fan of.

i'm sorry to tell you but you have swallowed the propaganda from anti-porn/anti-sex work organizations like Exodus Cry and Morality in Media (who now go by the name NCOSE).

I tend to agree generating adult content of real people is unethical, but probably less so than how a lot of real porn is made.

wholeheartedly disagree. "real porn" is literally made by consenting adult performers. Hence, it's ethical. Generating adult content of real people is (typically) done without the consent of the people involved, thereby making it unethical.

benefit of having dependencies containerized

wait just a minute there. So I just not that long ago started playing around with docker containers. And one thing that I love is that it's not installing and leaving behind leftover dependencies when you remove/uninstall whatever program/app you were using. Are you telling me that Flatpak does that? Because if so that is amazing. And if I ever make the switch from Windows to Linux, I'm definitely using Flatpak (and apt. Fuck snaps)

I have no idea what Notesnook uses, tbh. Ok looking at their github, apparently the desktop app uses electron

it infuriates me to no end that so many people are willing to go over to places like blue sky, spoutible, threads. Instead of capitalizing (no pun intended) on this golden opportunity to re-invent social media to be owned by everyone/no one instead of billionaires/corporations/capitalists by embracing the fediverse.

SO! FUCKING! INFURIATING!
