“I need your embroidered clothes, your highbeast, and your water gun.” - Arney the shumilnator

I think it would be fitting to have some poison traps.

Hmm, wouldn't that be like Ferdinand being bound by his own mana? I'm not sure if that would cause him pain or not.

Marbles on the ground, throwing waste, insect swarms, flash bangs, hidden teleporters, battle shumils! Almost seems like we're having a "Home Alone" style battle on our hands. The part of the silver hooded man with a missing hand will be played by Joe Pesci.

Interesting... If it was like Schwartz and Weiss it seems like other members of the archduke family would be at risk of taking over the foundation on accident. Rozemyne and Ferdinand would likely have put more mana into the foundation than Sylvester at some point. Ferdinand would easily be able to take over Ahrensbach's foundation too.

I suppose Georgine could adopt members into the new archduke family if she acquired the foundation. She probably has enough name sworn still kicking around to fill in for her occasional absence.

The more I think about it, the more I think maybe Georgine might have been trying to just secretly destroy Ehrenfest's foundation. If for instance she had her name sworn destroy it while at the Archduke Conference then she'd have a solid alibi and she'd still get to gloat to Sylvester which would have no duchy to return to and forever be known as an Aub that failed to protect his duchy. What would be better than killing Sylvester? Keeping him around to point and laugh at. Yes, Ahrensbach would still be a declining duchy, but at least it wouldn't be Ehrenfest.

Yep, I can definitely imagine her wanting to see Sylvester's face when she freezes his heart and pushes him into the valley of despair. It's going to be a challenge to take Ehrenfest's foundation without first draining it and destroying everything though, right? The only other way would be for her to replace Sylvester's mana with her own? Maybe she could drain it like 99% without everything crumbling then add her mana. Not really sure what the rules are.

It's kind of this odd juxtaposition of "Need to defend Ehrenfest" and "Need to get clothes before I move" going on in the story right now. I think you're right though, maybe we'll find out that there's no sign of Georgine yet and so there will be time to get other stuff done first.

I didn't think about Georgine making her move during the Archduke Conference. That is an interesting idea. I think she'd have to show up for her daughter's starbinding at the beginning, but after that she could feign sickness or some excuse to leave and then go to Ehrenfest. The conference lasts for about two weeks so that's enough time to travel at her leisure. In some past years Rozemyne would stay in the castle during the conference to supply the foundation, which would leave the temple less guarded as well—not that Georgine would probably know that. I'm still not sure if her goal is to obtain the foundation or just to destroy Ehrenfest. If destruction is her only plan then she could just send her name sworn to accomplish the task there by minimizing the danger to herself.

The cover illustration may represent Ferdinand getting poisoned or going into a coma. Honestly if I were Ferdinand I think I'd put myself into a temporary coma just to avoid marrying Detlinde—even better if he could make the blame fall on Detlinde with evidence about her affair with Leonzio.

I'm wondering if it's all going to be preparation or if we'll get around to some action too. I think we'll probably get to see Tuuli's reaction to Rozemyne's growth, and hopefully Rozemyne's reaction to Tuuli and Lutz's engagement.

I can understand Georgine hating her mother and brother for being forced to give up being an archduke candidate—after training hard to become one—and get married off to Ahrensbach. Even Rihyarda has sympathy for her. We don't really know what her circumstances were like in Ahrensbach, she may have had good reason to get rid of the other archduke family members, or maybe she was just broken at that point. But there's a big difference between taking revenge on the people who wronged you and genocide.

If Letizia were old enough then I'd agree that she'd be best to take the lead, but she's not even close to entering the Royal Academy. Ferdinand has been building a good rapport with the people of Ahrensbach. I think almost everyone—including Detlinde's retainers—would prefer him to lead over Detlinde at this point.

Well I wasn't expecting Rozemyne's 4th year at the Royal Academy to only last a week. I wonder if this means summer school or what. It sounds like Fraularm was fired which should make school life more pleasant going forward. I love how Bonifatius is always so happy to see Rozemyne return. He just doesn't seem to care at all about his emotions showing unlike other nobles. It's interesting to see the contrast between how her retainers, family, and everyone else reacts to Rozemyne's changes.

Seems like Rozemyne made it back just in time to help avert disaster in Ehrenfest. I've often wondered what Georgine's motivation is for taking Ehrenfest's foundation. If Rozemyne's worst fears are correct about her just wanting to destroy Ehrenfest then Georgine has some real issues. Regardless of the reason, I'd like to see Georgine get caught in a trap and shipped off to the Ivory Tower. I still think that she might send the old Giebe Gerlach to do her dirty work if her goal is just to cause damage. Considering how many times her plots have failed I don't see her risking herself unless her success is guaranteed.

Since Ahrensbach's key is in Ehrenfest's possession, it'll be interesting to see if they can make use of it somehow as insurance or to remove Detlinde and install Ferdinand as Aub. Seems like Rozemyne will be too busy to have some quiet reading time for quite a while.

My guess is that along with Rozemyne's physical changes that she's also obtained mana sensing. Considering she never had interest in romance before, I'm interested to see if she now views other mana compatible people with mana sensing in a new light.

My predictions:

  • Time stopped after Rozemyne provided mana to the Mestionora statue, similarly to when she visited the shrines. My reasoning is that she probably would have received an ordonnanz if everyone was looking for her. She'll still be older looking when she gets out though.
  • The first thing she'll do is try to get back to the dormitory without being seen by other duchies.
  • An emergency meeting with Sylvester will take place.
  • They'll probably come up with something like "There was an accident while joint researching ancient rituals and that's why I look like this" as an excuse for everyone.
  • She'll spend some time going through the information she learned while making notes of things that might be important.
  • She'll need to do some extra whirling practice to get used to how she's physically changed too.
  • She'll withhold most of what happened from the royal family until she has time to correspond more with Ferdinand or maybe until her adoption is finalized.
  • There will be an epic lecture from Ferdinand when he finally finds out that Rozemyne has been a Zent candidate, is due to be adopted by the royal family, and has received most of the Grutrissheit.
