...are you gatekeeping scam lore?

Linux phones will need to run established Android apps to get users, devs won't move where there is no users, users won't move there if there aren't apps. It's almost cyclical

Right now we're working with people who are exceptions to this, users who want to experiment and devs who don't care about money.

On a tangent, why are all of these companies pushing AI programming? This shit isn't nearly as functional as they make it seem and all the beginners who try it are constantly asking questions about why their generated code doesn't work

I find the internet is super good at locking people into echo chambers. For some reason, I feel especially keen on this when I was super into reddit over the last decade. I could FEEL just how a community would shift into just saying the same 10 things on repeat and any deviation would result in downvotes and messages in my inbox.

But it's not just reddit. Modern video feed algorithms and other social media just need to feed you the same stuff you've engaged with previously.

So what ends up happening is young boys only see the videos of angry purple haired stereotype liberal feminist first year college student get SLAMMED/DESTROYED by Ben Shapiro or Jordan Peterson or a woman who is clearly saying something sarcastic with sad sigma male music in the background and all the comments are calling for her to be put in prison or death.

And that's not to say people don't experience these types IRL and it morphs their opinions, my sister is this stereotype and is pretty fucking stupid and she will get into heated debates on Facebook about stuff she has no idea about. She'll read a headline and form a whole mindset of bullshit around it and never verify if it was just a click bait article posted to Facebook to get ad revenue with no concept of journalist integrity. It's really difficult talking to her about anything political because even though I'm pretty liberal/progressive myself, she'll just say things that are factually wrong and when I try to talk to her about it she takes it as me disagreeing and won't listen to reason or logic outside of her preconceived image of reality. Very difficult person

I often have to look at her and remind myself that people like her are a very small portion of the population and aren't really indicative of the masses.

Unregulated unions are peak free market but they don't ever like hearing that one do they

We have a Jewish politician open criticizing Israel, I'm pretty sure that says more than enough on its own

[-] AdmiralShat@programming.dev 71 points 8 months ago

This is absurd, but extremely believable

I think anyone who reviewed it should publish a secondary videos explaining this.

This seems like it's legitimately false advertising

Everyone with a brain has been saying this would happen for the last decade, and yet there was no legislation put in place to target this behavior

Why does every law need to be reactionary? Why can't we see a situation developing and get ahead of it by legislating the very obvious things it can be used for?

Put Unity somewhere up there for their recent debacle

People only see this with the context that this is a youtuber doing a prank.

This man is 6 fucking 5. Imagine a random giant gets in your face, you think you're about to be robbed or beaten. He advances. You retreat. He advances. You retreat, he advanced. Again, you retreat, he advances, all the while shoving something in your face. How many times do you need to tell someone to disengage and retreat before its okay to consider it a threat?

Just because this guy happened to be a youtuber doing a prank is irrelevant, imo.

Any update? (programming.dev)

Not trying to rush, just curious if you're planning on releasing soon

I feel like Godot's AnimationTree is significantly more valuable and useful than Unity's Animator component. You can nest your Statemacchins or blend trees or BlendSpace2Ds. You can attach scripts to individual Statemachine Transitions if you wanted.

You also have access to the Advance Expressions, which is a fantastic way to not have to manually set a billion bools

And you can actually manipulate all of this from code, something I detested about Unity was how locked out I felt from the Animator component, and the legacy animation system is beyond old and depreciated. Godot doesn't lock anything away and you can modify everything you want from code, if you need.

Curious if maybe I missed something with my time in Unity, but it made me frustrated and annoyed more than anything.

Android Torrent Clients (programming.dev)

I primarily use Libretorrent, but it absolutely fucking pisses me off to no end sometimes. I'll come back and my torrents will have file size mismatch out of nowhere and you can't delete individual files within a torrent once you've started them, and sometimes torrents will just dissappear altogether from the app (while still being stored on my phone, so It's not a whole loss)

I like to download higher quality versions of TV shows, but don't want to commit to the 60-100 GB that is sometimes the whole show (I have a god damned flag ship now that doesn't have an SD card. Pathetic)

Flud and Bitlord are just skins of libretorrent (or it is a skin of one of them)

I haven't touched uTorrent and it's clones on PC since like 2012, and I have never used them on Android.

Any experience with clients for android that seem to fit my usecase? I just want something reliable and something I can delete files after download without the whole torrent being rendered unstable.
