We just let anybody have a gun these days

I say that as a firearm owner and manufacturer. Anytime somebody asks me about my guns I explain to them how any 13-year-old could have done the same thing and how are gun laws are completely broken

You can be pro gun in pro regulation at the same time, fuck all these false dichotomies

I've been dreaming of a future where Uber, DoorDash, etc are devoid of any corporate organization. Developers, drivers and support staff are the only human workers, the rest is organized by a complex, but open source, program.

No investors, no shareholders, every cent goes to the workers. Wages are higher in prices are lower because we aren't paying five VPs a million dollars a year or sending all our profits to the shareholders.

I think advances in computing and AI could actually make this possible. If only greed didn't run the world it might be doable

I want free market capitalism that works for us. What we have now if slavery with extra steps

I had made Junglecat controller cases for my galaxy fold but just got a S23 Ultra and decided to make another for this phone.

I love how perfectly the size of the controllers matches the phone width. It makes it look like one cohesive device!

Speakers, USB and pen are all accessible still.

I am willing to share the STL for free to anyone interested, but if you want to leave me a 'tip' you can buy the file from my store for five bucks (Frogcase)

Combine it with sonarr, radar, jackett and qBitTorrent and it's incredibly easy to get a new show or movie

I feel like a wizard being able to add a movie to jellyfin for my mom in minutes

Also love that new episodes auto download!

4hr 40m Benchy! (lemmy.world)
submitted 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) by 4lan@lemmy.world to c/3dprinting@lemmy.world

I finally got multi-color working on my Creality K1 Max using the 3D Chameleon.

Decided to make a 2 color benchy and scaled it down to 75% to save time, along with 0.25mm layer height.

So far the Chameleon has been pretty picky with filament, but when it works it works well! This print is with silk gold and matte black. I have even gotten 95A TPU to print with it surprisingly!

I modified the color-change code so it takes 1 minute less, which makes a big difference when you have hundreds of color changes.

Next up, 4 color benchy. Probably will be 10 hrs lol

I know this is very specific to my devices, but thought I'd share anyways. Really happy with how this came out and how convenient it is.

I have been playing with this idea for a while and finally designed it. This charges my ZFold3, Galaxy Watch6 and XROS vape all at the same time on my nightstand.
Phone and watch chargers are wireless, vape charger is a cable inserted to make a 'dock'.

I designed slots in the bottom so the cables all route out the back.

I added a little area at the front for miscellaneous items, like lip balm and coins.

I'm kicking myself now for not including a place to put my glasses, but I might design something to attach to this existing dock for them to go.

I ended up doing some experimenting to see how low I can make the fans go without sacrificing print quality and came up with this profile that is significantly quieter. It prints a 22min flawless benchy despite lower fan speeds. Thought I'd share it in case anyone else wants to use it

I have been putting my K1 Max in my laundry room due to the jet-engine/vacuum cleaner sounds it makes when printing. I got annoyed having to move it when doing a load, so decided to try to quiet it down a bit so I can have it nearby in my office.

I used butyl sound dampening sheets on the side panels, but that only helped with vibration noise from the side fans. It helps, but not enough.

  • Speed: 300 mm/s
  • Acceleration: 12,000 mm/s²
  • Max Fan: 40%
  • Chamber Fan: Off
  • Side Fan: 20%

Important: One thing to keep in mind is that if your minimum layer time (in cooling section) is too low your fans will run at 100% when your layers are less than this time, despite what you have fans set at in the profile. If you are printing a smaller model you might get some periods of high fan speed. Just adjust the min layer time for these instances. I have it set to 2 seconds, but 5 should be better for very small prints

Once they raised prices I created a media server with jellyfin (+Sonarr, Radarr, QBittorrent) and never looked back.

Automatically downloads new episodes of my favorite shows

Got my own personal netflix accesible anywhere with infinite users. No one can cancel an episode of my fav show and erase it from existence.

My K1 Max had a bed leveling error and printed for a while with the nozzle pressed into the bed so filament couldn't come out, causing a bad clog.

I painstakingly stripped the machine down just to get access to the hot end, and the heatsink and heat break are completely fused. (yes I removed grub screw)

The throat seems to be able to spin within the rest of the heat break, I don't think that's normal but I'm used to enders and cr10.

What I've tried:

  • mini-torch on heat sink, then tried to pull hard out
  • Oven for 1hr at 200F
  • Freezer for 1 hour, THEN torch on heat sink
  • Heated the metal needle thing they provided, and stabbed that through the filament path
  • Tried to heat and remove the nozzle, but it is also completely stuck

I reached out to Creality a week ago and they have not replied.
The heat sink is not even available online, so I am dead in the water until they send me a new heatsink.

Does anyone have any other ideas???

UPDATE!!! (for those who have this in the future)

I finally got it! It took multiple cycles of putting it in my toaster oven at 450F for 20 minutes at a time.

I was able to get the nozzle removed after a couple cycles, which gave me hope.

I did two more cycles, trying to pull them apart each time. Finally it barely started to budge with lots of effort. I saw it was out about 0.5mm. I grabbed my torch and blasted that sucker right at the hole where the grub screw comes out from. Kept heating, pulling, heating pulling. Eventually it slid right out!

Here's the crazy part. There was 0 filament residue in there when I got it out. I have no idea what was locking it in place. If it simply burned away there would have been carbon residue at least. Both the heat break and heat sink were clean... It's almost like they JB welded it in place lol

I am so happy I wont be having to wait weeks for Creality to respond, then more weeks for them to ship a new heatsink. Going to use the spare hot-end that came with the printer and get this puppy printing again! Thanks again for the advice @dual_sport_dork

This comment is so out of touch.

I work in CAD and 3D printing and I'd be completely dead in the water if I used Linux.

No fusion 360, no cura

I bet there are plenty of other apps that I rely on that are not available on Linux.

I'm not some sort of Windows fanboy either. I'm disgusted with their action in the recent years.

I run Linux on my home server, but not my main computing machine

Let's be realistic here, your experience is not universal

And if you accidentally open edge you can't even close the application without going through the setup process.

I created one product (Frog Case) and people on Reddit were asking me to print it for them. Made a Shopify to make it easier and now I sell dozens of my original designs on there. (Frogcase.store)

Lately I make custom phone cases for the Galaxy Fold series

On average I make $300 a month, but highest sales month was $1k

I think it's more likely that he is looking for excuses for the years of delays on the cyber truck.

Now he can blame it on his "desire for perfection" instead of admitting that his timeline was never viable

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/2804564

First off, I just recently switched from a dual 1860 box mod and RTA to the XROS 3 and I am LOVING IT. No more half-pound chunk in my pocket, and it lasts all day on a charge.

I always make myself accessories for new things I buy, and this vape is no exception.

I designed this so I would not have to fiddle with a cable to charge my XROS 3 vape during the day, and had a place to store my extra pods.

The dock utilizes the USB-C cable that comes included with the XROS 3 so that there are no cable-compatibility issues. It routes through a channel in the bottom and out the back of the dock.

I added a window that allows you to view the charging LED light while docked. The dock will hold 4 of any of the pods they offer for the XROS series.

This works with the following models:

XROS
XROS 2
XROS Mini
XROS 3
XROS 3 Mini

If you want to print one for yourself here is the STL file: https://www.printables.com/model/527431-xros-charging-dock-pod-storageFeel free to ask any print-related questions you may have and I'll help out.
