It means your client (looks like Jerboa) wants Lemmy API version 0.18 but lemmy.world has not been updated yet. Hang tight, I believe the admins are overloaded with the new user influx.
I also see the same thing.

For accuracy, itβs not just about the admins being busy, 0.18.0 removed the signup captcha, which has been crucial for preventing massive bot signups into instances, some number of instances canβt upgrade without that critical downside. The plan is for the captcha to be reintroduced in 0.18.1, so weβre all waiting for that.
Anyone know why Captcha was removed?
Because it was implemented using WebSockets, which was torn out for 0.18. They need to reimplement a captcha using HTTP instead. Not the most difficult job or anything, just didn't make the cut for 0.18 in the interests of getting it out there.
Yes, that's correct. Jerboa was updated yesterday and it's "pushing" the instance you're using to login to Lemmy to be updated.
Lemmy.world is not upgrading to 0.18 because they removed captcha, admins are waiting for 0.18.1 in which captcha is being re-implemented, it's discussed here: https://lemmy.world/post/469761
I donβt have it myself but I hear that Jerboa requires the instance you signed up on to be (lemmy) version 0.18 as of a recent version.
Another vote for downgrading. I also started trying out "Connect for Lemmy" and it's been pretty slick.
Same here. I'm just using it through the web until the kinks get ironed out.
You can downgrade version on fdroid, thats what I did
Did that, but it just started crashing at launch for me
Check out thunder for Lemmy also there's another app called liftoff. Lemmy is still in development, we will see a lot of third party clients soon.
