I'm thinking of spinning up some streaming for a couple of games in the near future, (I always do massive 400+ hour factories in Satisfactory) and was wondering if there's a place or software to stream on that's not Amazon, Google, Microsoft, or Meta? I'm not looking for revenue or massive followers, this would just be for fun and I'd post a link in a couple communities if they wanted to watch. I'm happy to host myself too.

Any ideas? Theoretically activitypub so I could link it on mastodon and here?

This looks like it wins in terms of simplest setup and just "I want to stream this item". Will need to compare it against Peertube, thanks for the suggestion!

Peertube has streaming with xmpp based live chat. One really need thing with peertube is it will do peer to peer live streaming, so if you have a really popular stream all the people watching your stream will end up serving it to other people who are watching your stream.

Looks like Peertube wins in terms of functionality, I was hoping for a more ephemeral solution, but I will add this to the running!

PeerTube has streaming capability but I believe it's a per-server feature so you'd need to find one that explicitly has that enabled. Don't know much about how that side of PT actually works from a creator viewpoint though, maybe someone else can add more specific info.

I run an owncast server. It was easy to set up, easy to stream to. Highly recommend. Also you can subscribe to it via mastodon to get go live updates.

Prehaps maybe odysee I mean odysee isn't the best there's mainly alot of alt right content it's where I expect people to discuss about trump and so on but you may find a small audience there of people whom may find you entertaining or funny and watch your streams
