Morrowind is the one I skipped. Someone explain the joke plox.
- Dunmer inhabitants of Vvardenfel generally dislike foreigners, so there's a base level of racism whenever the player interacts with them (even as a Dunmer yourself, you're too cosmopolitan for them)
- Slavery (plantations and mines) is the driving economic force on Vvardenfel. There is extra racism when the player is a Khajit or Argonian
- Everyone lives under a stagnant theocracy
- One faction, the Telvanni, are powerful wizards who ignore the government and believe that might makes right
All of these mean that there's a certain subset of players who are into this ancap racist stuff IRL and get excited by "roleplaying" Dunmer racism on Reddit threads and the like.
But for any normal person, these are just aspects of a setting that make for interesting conflict and stories. It's such a great game, and OpenMW is the best way to play it.

Unironically if you can handle reading it's worth it to go through with minimal mods
If you can't handle that much reading: there's a mod that makes voice lines out of the text lines using AI and it works quite well
The only thing I need in OpenMW is being able to use the controller in menus, and not the stupid using a joystick to move the mouse. It doesn't help that the mouse usually disappears.
It doesn't stop me from playing, but it would be nice.
It's only gonna be another decade or so, right after 3 more special editions of Skyrim.
Island full of racists, several cults, and whatever the Telvanni are into that's not just straight up racial superiority, slavery, and eugenics. Plus some really fucked up gods.
