Dude looks in his 60s but likely those are his kids and he had a rough first 40 years...

[–] jewbacca117@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago

He probably is 40 and smoked 35 of those years

I can narrow it down to the 1970s in California.

Possibly. I was going by the California plates on two of the cars but that doesn’t really mean anything.

Based on the flashy style lights around the sign, I'd guess Las Vegas. Super close to California, so that would explain the license plates.

[–] lippert@lemm.ee 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

All Holiday Inn signs looked like that.

[–] Cyclist@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Super iconic at the time.

[–] niktemadur@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

But zooming in on the texture of some background buildings, I'd bring it back to L.A.

70s CA or NV would be my guess as well. Love the aesthetic

That guy looks like he knows how to get rid of a body.

That's Paulie, his first cousin Sal owns a meat-packing business.
"LPT for ya, Paulie: steer clear of the capicola until further notice, capisce?"

[–] OrteilGenou@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No, that's Bill Smitherson, long-time Ohioan and car parts manufacturer who moved to Arizona after he took early retirement to work in film production.

He was Paulie, but only up until last week.

Never mind the deep New Jersey accent.

Ah yes... the good ol' days!
Exactly like the type of picture that would have been part of an Internet K-hole massive photo-dump a couple of decades ago.

[–] mcavoya@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Holy crap. The boy on the left could have been me. Check out the huge collar and bell bottoms.

The girl on the right could have been my brother. :D

[–] xmanmonk@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 2 weeks ago

Those bell bottoms are epic.

This has me imagining an entire movie where you take Escape from Witch mountain, but make the bald butler dude actually an enforcer with the Italian mob helping the kids escape the CIA that wants to turn them into magical assassins.

Played by Joe Pesci

Ffffound.com is gone too.

Edit: I know your comment had nothing to do with him, but now I’m reminiscing about the digital artworks of Yugo Nakamura (yugop.com, or https://tha.jp/ if anyone is interested).

[–] merde@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

i can't load the site now but i remember yugop. It was unlike anything else on the web.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Is that Marlon Brando?

[–] niktemadur@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Would you say that kid's wearing an Op or a Lightning Bolt shirt?
I'm going with Lightning Bolt, because I don't remember such huge collar on Op shirts. Of course, my memory could be glitching.

Remember how Op shirts were everywhere? Conversely, Lightning Bolt shirts were harder to come by, therefore cooler.
Meanwhile, with pants it was the opposite. Lightning Bolt was everywhere, Op was scarcer.

This goes HARD

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

Looks like the man's pockets are made specifically for grabbing the dick. Not on the sides. Right in front.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Las Vegas innit?
