Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.
Welcome to all lemmigrants !
I've gotten permabans on multiple subs and also overall bans from reddit admin itself. Various reasons like pro-luigi comments, anti-trump comments, anti-israeli comments, pro-ukraine comments. Reddit is a propaganda platform now.
Pro Anti 1% ban here.
It always was.
Well... that's just going to be most American sites going forward. That's why ultimately platforms like Lemmy are so important. What a lot of people here in the States don't realize is that this is a war on information.
Always has been my friend. It just took time for the fascists to catch up
Lemmy is more important to those of us that live in countries without free speech. Like the UK. It's still unreal that I can type that and it's completely true. Although it's more unreal that thanks to government censorship I need a VPN to access this site at all.
Yep… three day ban here.
Sub name checks out
JFC… looks like Reddit is now only good for old Tech questions.
Yep. I am done with Reddit too. Just deleted my account after this bullshit.
What was the topic about? Sounds like you pissed someone off good 😂
Crazy, ironically, I wouldn't consider most dem politicians liberals. They're just not as far right as Republicans.
I once saw a comment by a European explaining American politics to another European.
“Their left is our right, their right is our far right, and their far right are literal flag waving Nazis.”
TBH, getting banned from a sub for something that got downvoted there as well just means you said something in the wrong place to the wrong people. That exact same thing can (and does) happen in Lemmy too.
My only permaban in my 10 year Reddit history is for explaining someone making a reference to the MLP cum jar meme, and in hindsight, I did deserve that, even if someone did specifically ask what it meant.
My only permaban on Reddit was making a joke about Nick Fuentes being doxxed. I said "an incel like him should be glad, now the ladies know where to find him if they want to share a cocktail with him", with a gif of a cartoon Molotov. Inciting/glorifying violence. Ok fine, that one was on me. Still funny though.
yay, my once which was my fav platform becoming a shitshow. i won't miss it
I am so close to deleting Reddit too, among all other American services I’ve been canceling since the beginning of the new year.
I deleted all my reddit accounts but one as I want to go through my saved history first. Fuck reddit.
Meanwhile PoliticalCompassMemes and the 4chan subreddit stays up
When it comes to controversial subs, the general rule is if you have really dedicated mods who are super careful to never break a rule themselves you can generally keep it up.
Those mods not breaking any rules individually is important because otherwise the admins will invoke their backup plan for dealing with a sub they don't like but isn't breaking any rules - keeping the mods under a microscope and looking for any excuse to ban them and immediately ban the sub for being unmoderated, refuse to give it to new mods, and ban any replacement sub for recreating a banned sub.
They could just ban the sub because they don't like it, but that kind of seeming capriciousness tends to get a bad reaction from the userbase, which is why they look for an excuse to justify the ban.
I've seen a lot of awful subreddits over time but PoliticalCompassMemes was the first subreddit I ran into that made me feel like I was actually staring into the start of the pipeline. The way it was masquerading as a "funny all inclusive political humour sub" at the time was nauseating and it's only gotten worse since.
Don't forget KiA and all the Trump subs.
My least favorite fun fact is that Reddit forced the KiA mod to reopen after they went private calling it a "cancer".
I was a mod at the time and Reddit always told us we had an extreme degree of editorial independence (hence the justification for allowing r/jailbait, /greatawakening, r/coontown etc) but that event made me consider for the first time that exposing normies to propaganda might not just be a side-effect, but a core function of the company.
Ironic - Palpatine
