Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

I'm not talking about the people going underground part or them not knowing why they are there, but the parts were lots of things are hinted at or plot bits dangled and then it just turns out there aren't any answers.

I don’t believe the producers had the whole story arc planned regardless of what they say. I think you can tell when there’s a mystery box situation. But now that they moved the island and it has settled down into an allegory for Scientology, I’m hoping they’ll stop introducing polar bears and keep focusing on the story.

Spoiler here:

I think there is a huge corner they’re backed into when it comes to neatly wrapping things up. If severance is stopped, the innies have to die. Even reintegration means giving up their identities and personalities and becoming just a memory. So it’ll be pretty messy to try to write their way out of that.

While the surface level story of severance is annoying since it doesn't like to give answers (so far), it also criticizes workplace culture and work in general which makes it satisfying to me.

It could be in a sense of how much it is loved/discussed, and the fact that it is appointment tv like Lost was (which is not really a thing anymore making it even more impressive!). But Severance seems to me a much more consistent and well thought out show that is well planned/leading somewhere (not in circles like Lost did). Yellowjackets feels more like Lost to me, the seemingly aimlessness of some plots, the weird supernatural bits thrown in to confuse, the lack of answers. I also get the same feeling watching Yellowjackets that I did watching Lost near the end - hate watching just to see where the ridiculous story goes and if they can even have a satisfying ending. Severance feels like things happen for a reason, and they have the ending figured out but only time will tell

It hasn’t finished yet, let’s see if they can stick the landing

Dan Erickson has said that he knows how it ends and has a specific scene in mind. But they don't know exactly how they're going to get there.

I mean, that's kinda what they said about Lost, but then they had to fill 3 seasons because the network wasn't ready to end it, and by the time they got to the end, everyone had guessed the twist and it went out with a whimper.

Of course we've had other terrible endings to massive shows since then, so

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 8 points 23 hours ago

Well, that show was also a week-by-week cliffhanger with no internal consistency. It was all bluster from JJ.

Oh no, that's giving me Game of Thrones / ASOIAF / George RR Martin / King Bran vibes!

[–] capital_sniff@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

I'll take your word for it and now expect an epic ending.

No, From is the new Lost. It's so good though, I highly recommend it.

[–] lordnikon@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is 100% correct but it's good as I got older it's the characters that make it interesting so the mystery is just a bonus.

[–] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 1 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I just hope the ending is a bit more satisfying.

Aw crap that's what I started to think on the third episode or so with the radio and light shenanigans.... I've just started watching it.

I hope they have some idea of where is this meant to go.

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago

I came here to say the same thing!

I think that Severance is better written than Lost. Time will tell

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Seems pretty early to talk about questions being unanswered when it's just halfway through the second season

[–] paraffine@jlai.lu 3 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

7 episodes have aired with only 3 left, right?

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

Do not question PP_BOY_.
