It’s so much work reverse engineering the proprietary console when you can just use the steam deck.

jest/joking, its like /s(sarcasm) but meant to be more lighter in tone.

I say it as /j instead of /s because while they have taken down repos, they have decided to uphold projects in the past before.

How well protected is this against any lawsuits? I imagine it's not illegal to create firmware but Nintendo might think differently. Do they have any leg to stand on?

They have been one of the corner stones of switch custom software for years. I can't believe Nintendo could do something and decided not to
