No explanation why?

My excitement for all of this has disappeared. I don’t want to put any more money into it. I’ll still be around on a different account that I had before I launched my own.

Seems like the instance owner got burned out, happens sadly

I would really love an official way to transfer ownership of a server. I suppose as long as the domain can transfer and the docker volumes are zipped up it could be migrated anywhere

We did it for feddit.uk, worked out fine - the main hassle was contacting the AWOL Admin. Then it was a matter of starting the transfer of the image files and going off to do something Interesting.

Good, how is it going over there at feddit.uk? I forgot the last owner just kind of ghosted

[–] Emperor@feddit.uk 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

It's all going well - everything is fully-funded and ticking along nicely.

Good! I'd be sad to see you folks leave

[–] willya@lemmyf.uk 5 points 1 day ago

Yeah it can be. It’s as simple as that or a drive clone.

They will be missed! As this is part of the current trend in the dwindling number of Lemmy instances.

[–] glowing_hans@sopuli.xyz 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

no! Have we already reached peak lemmy?

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 7 points 12 hours ago

Monthly Active Users (MAU) is probably the best metric for the health of Lemmy. A lot of these instances that are shutting down may be single-user instances or ones that people spun up just to mess about with them.

However, please donate to your instance if you can, it doesn't have to be much :)

Thanks @blaze@feddit.org, you’re one I enjoy seeing all around here.

I don't think I've ever seen that instance handle anywhere.

[–] Blaze@feddit.org 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Their most famous community was !sexmemes@lemmyf.uk (NSFW)

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hm, not sure the upvotes federated properly here.

[–] neoman4426@fedia.io 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Looks like any nsfw communities don't show up on fedia.io, viewing that community from that link that pulls up the mirror this site uses just shows it as empty for me. Same when checking any on like, lemmynsfw despite that being listed as federated.

==EDIT== Turns out I just had hide NSFW content on in the settings, I just assumed it would blur the thumbnails. When unchecking that it shows up

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 5 points 2 days ago

Thumbnails are blurred by default in mbin but you can use something like KES to unblur them automatically. https://github.com/aclist/kbin-kes/

[–] willya@lemmyf.uk 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

When I first launched it, I planned on doing a porn instance, kind of like lemmynsfw did. A lot of instances prematurely blocked mine. I reached out to a lot of them in the beginning and they cleared me from it.

Thanks for the great memes! And contributing to the Fediverse

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 17 points 2 days ago

Yeah, definitely.

I hope @willya@lemmyf.uk sticks around on another instance.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 5 points 2 days ago

Best wishes, and thanks for all the memes!
