No wonder. Why should I need some shitty sony account on PC? I never asked for it, nobody ever asked for it.

My goal is just to have a community where people can go and see what new game news is out for the day and comment on it.

The shareholders did.
The funny thing to me is that a throwaway Sony account seems more likely to make a future intentional use of Sony's services a hassle.
You can't make the account because that email is already in use. You do the "forgot my password" thing. You notice that the account's name is terrible, and now you've spent more time fixing a worse thing than if you just didn't have an existing account at all.
Or you make a new account with a new email. Making the God of War account a useless little mole on your library.
I'd call it an appendix, but unlike forced account creation for single player games, the appendix has actually been proven to have a legitimate purpose despite its shortcomings.
As a shareholder I would be pretty hard against this kind of shit that do nothing positive but hurts PC sales.
Shareholder wants that yummy fictional market share numbers and harvested user information.
If I were a PC gamer instead of a console gamer, there’s no way I’d be able to keep track of all these redundant accounts. On the PS, I just log into one, and it just does all the other ones for me. I can’t blame you guys on PC for getting sick at yet another one. Can’t you just tie it to like a Steam login or something, or is that a bad idea?
So I bought it knowing I had to make an account. I knew I was caving to a shitty requirement. Before you even get to a main menu the game unceremoniously launches your browser while sitting at a black screen. On your browser you are expected to sign into your Playstation(R) Account. I tried. I tried and tried. An error kept popping up stating "can't connect to server."
In that moment I decided on a refund. You want me to sign into an account for a single player game? Fine. I caved and I did, but their servers weren't ready for a re-launch of a huge game to service a restriction Sony placed on themselves.
I'll buy it again when there is a mod to remove the account requirement.
I didn't realize there were mods that could do that... What are some games that you've used this on?
That mod exists, it's called piracy.
Yup, took this off my wishlist as soon as I saw the requirement in the store. At least steam warns you about it. I would love to play this game but there’s so many other great games to play it doesn’t feel like much of a loss for me.
What a fantastic game though, everyone should play it...just pirate it. Sony dont deserve it.
For a single-player game...
I'm not sure I get the rationale of having accounts for a single player game even from a corporate suit perspective. They already have your email and other details about you what is the point of an account?
Once the account has been made, the barrier to more services is lowered.
PlayStation is likely going to want to make their own store on PC at some point.
They can turn off the game when they choose to.
I’m glad I played through this on the PS4. I’m tired of Sony’s bullshit data hoarding anti-consumer antics.
This is why exclusives are bad, IMO. Not that the game can't be great but this is what comes with it. Companies trying to sell their product. Imagine if every PC game in Steam advertised and required a Steam Deck login.
