For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

We all owe Elon a huge debt of gratitude for thoroughly destroying the "billionaire genius" and "great man" myths we've been obsessed with and attributed to many unworthy people for years.

An immigrant worried about immigrants. Fuck you, Lonnie.

[–] bloopernova@programming.dev 32 points 10 months ago (2 children)

He really is a trump wannabe. why?

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 35 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He wants people to like him like the fanatics love Trump. He doesn't know how to generate that attention, much less how to create affection, so he and others like him copy Trump to try to recreate that fanaticism.

Articles like this feed that craving for attention so he keeps making an ass out of himself for the views.

I think it’s the vague incoherence of Trumpfs ramblings that give him an edge, it allows him lots of forgiveness with his base because they say “he mustn’t have meant it like that.” Where if someone like Elon misspeaks he has no excuse. That and as destructive and inept at being president as Trumpf was he could be seen as disarming with his childish fun side where as Elons past actions follow him and he comes off as a jerk when he’s having fun.

Fortunately we don't have to worry about Musk becoming president.

Fortunately further, we can also eliminate changing that from the GOPs goals.

[–] SuckMyWang@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Not president on earth anyway. It’s kind of funny and sad that the only place he could become president is on a distant planet in a place he paid for everything.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Nah, I highly doubt he'd risk the exposure to radiation.

As much as he might like to paint himself as the man to bring humanity to the stars, it won't happen. Not in his lifetime, anyway.

[–] SuckMyWang@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Well if his actions around avoiding suckaturds fight is any indication he’s a pussy when it comes to personal safety.

[–] assassin_aragorn@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Nah he'd insist it was safe enough and that he knew better than everyone else

[–] Maeve@kbin.social 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

So he can grab em by the…without repercussions?

[–] SuckMyWang@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He does. No other ceo would be able to get away with the sex scandals he has.

[–] Maeve@kbin.social 2 points 10 months ago

Oh I know. Believe me, I know.

[–] Wrench@lemmy.world 25 points 10 months ago

He comes from apartheid. It's not an "immigrant" thing, it's a skin color thing.

[–] toiletobserver@lemmy.world 58 points 10 months ago (4 children)

How do you put a cowboy hat on backwards? Shit has tags, stitches on the inside, specific head shape, formed crown usually... what a gimp

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 41 points 10 months ago (1 children)

By being extremely stupid.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 12 points 10 months ago

By being rich enough that he's never had a consequence of being stupid.

[–] towerful@programming.dev 17 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Baseball hats = cool.
Backwards baseball hats = rad.
Cowboy hats = manly.
The guy is trying to apply maths he doesn't understand to a situation he has no experience in to try and appear like he belongs.
Classic musk.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Backwards baseball hats = rad.

Ehhhh...

[–] mememuseum@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It makes you better at Pokèmon battles, and that's pretty rad.

[–] assassin_aragorn@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Elon would be the type to trade for a perfect IV/EV Dragonite and brag about how good it is and he is -- and then accuse you of cheating when an ice type move KOs it.

[–] Barrelephants@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

The front top of the hat is even perfectly shaped for your fingers to put it on

[–] ohlaph@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

He wears like three things so it's probably easy for him to get basics incorrect.

[–] ElcaineVolta@kbin.social 54 points 10 months ago (2 children)

starting to think this man has a humiliation fetish he's tricked the world into indulging

[–] detalferous@lemm.ee 3 points 10 months ago

If only there were some kind of realtime broadcast application that would have let us alert him to his faux pas when it happened.

[–] qwertyqwertyqwerty@lemmy.world 43 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I was going to post something worthwhile, but I'm just so sick of seeing Elon and his bullshit all over the Internet. There isn't anything tangible he produces that affects me in any way.

[–] GrammatonCleric@lemmy.world 20 points 10 months ago

Outrage. He produces outrage.

[–] demonquark@lemmy.world 27 points 10 months ago (1 children)

This is why most corporations have PR teams. Trying to convince folks of blatant lies like, “I’m just a regular guy, with the same concerns as other plebs”, is not as easy as it looks.

[–] yoz@aussie.zone 9 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Can we just send him back to where he came from ?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

It's a thought. He'd be pretty miserable being there now that black people are in charge.

[–] XTornado@lemmy.ml 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It's difficult, I mean he ha been trying too, but Mars is quite far away.

[–] assassin_aragorn@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

I believe it is a worthy use of taxpayer dollars to fund a one way mission to Mars for Elon to explore the surface.

[–] PrincessLeiasCat@sh.itjust.works 8 points 10 months ago

So he does have free time. Well I guess that flame trench for his destroyed launch pad isn’t getting installed any time soon.

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Asshat ăs′hăt″ noun A contemptible or detestable person. A clumsy or socially inept person. An obnoxiously ignorant person; a fool.

[–] negativenull@lemm.ee 5 points 10 months ago

The joke is that SpaceX/Starbase is already on the Texas/Mexico border. People in Mexico were watching the Starship launch a few months ago. He's very frequently by the border already.

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 months ago

Windscreen cowboy right there.

[–] CritFail@lemmy.world -2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I get the feeling he is going to go for the Republican presidential ticket when the Trump train ends.

[–] RunawayFixer@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Musk is not a natural born citizen of the USA, so he can't even run as a candidate. Same as Schwarzenegger, the Simpsons lied to us. I can see Musk run for Texas governor though.

[–] CritFail@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Ah my bad, yeah agree some form of government leadership position. Anything to butter up his ego a little more and tick off his billionnaire bingo card.

[–] assassin_aragorn@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Did McConaughey ever commit to running or not?
