The most requested feature for Immich has just been implemented by this guy!

Now using Immich makes much more sense since you'll be able to sync with Immich your existing photo galleries!

Wow that's awesome! Props to etnoy for creating such a polished PR for this feature

I can't wait to simply point immich at my existing photo structure :)

That's really awesome! I'll hold off from trying this for one or two updates, hopefully by then Immich will automatically create albums based on the folder structure as well.
And some solid library sharing feature would also go a long way towards sharing (old) family photos with the whole family!

Is anyone using this? It looks great, but that disclaimer everywhere saying you shouldn't use it concerns me.

If you use it, what is your experience?

saying you shouldn’t use it

The disclaimer says "Do not use the app as the only way to store your photos and videos.. It doesn't say not to use it.

In other words, don't (yet) trust it like you might Google Photos or iCloud. Make sure your images are syncing to your Immich server, and make sure you back them up.

I've been using Immich for a few months now, and couldn't be happier. I have a 2N+C strategy for my data (what many people call 3-2-1). My Immich server writes all synced photos and videos to my primary NAS, which in turn is synced to my secondary NAS. Once a night, I sync copies to a cloud storage service.

Point taken about backups. I wouldn't self host something like this without backups.

Backups are obviously a good idea, but it's a pain in the ass having to restore your data. A disclaimer like this implies that restoring from backup will be a regular thing. That's why I was curious about peoples experience with it. How frequently does it wipe your photos?

I’m using this since last week and it works great so far. I only have one issue where some photos in my timeline are incorrectly placed at a wrong date, but this is a known issue and should be fixed soon.

Benn using it a few months, works like a charm!

Amazing! This was the feature which prevented me using it, because I already have a existing gallery created by synology which I don't want to get rid of, but at the same time I don't really like synologies features so much.
