I was talking to my girlfriend about how some people have a shadow person/dark figure and was wondering if Lemmiters would like to share their story so she, and others, get to know about them.

I guess potential trigger warnings.

Also, not sure if it's ok to ask about shadow persons.. leave it to the mods to mod

Love how OP thinks whatever this is is just normal common knowledge and the rest of us are like....erm....

[-] Domille@sh.itjust.works 29 points 11 months ago

what in the world is a shadow person?

[-] dm21@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

If you can handle the newspaper in question and the vile website layout, this gives a good example: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/man-saw-ufo-shadow-people-25937329

If UFOs are what it takes to distract idiots from obsessing about trannies and immigrants and whatever this week's hysteria is then yeah I'm fuckin here for it let's go

[-] justgohomealready@sh.itjust.works -4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

It's getting a bit late to associate UFOs with idiots, honestly. Both the government and NASA have frontally admitted that there are things flying around that we can't identify. The US just shot down 3 unidentified objects with F22's a few months ago (and no, they were not balloons like the one everyone saw pictures of - no pictures were release of these other objects). Congress is moving forwards with new legislation to force disclosure of secret special access programs related to UFOs, after Grusch's claims, and there will be public hearings soon.

I know the subject has been ridiculed for decades, but no one in congress who has clearance and has been briefed is laughing about it now.

[-] abraham_linksys@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 months ago

Oh no the idiots I was referring to are the ones who can't stop obsessing over genitals and culture war whining.

I definitely want to see what our government has on aliens though

[-] justgohomealready@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

Sorry! English is not my first language and I misunderstood you.

[-] Domille@sh.itjust.works -1 points 11 months ago

I was going to comment about this too, glad that you decided to instead. Incredible things are happening with disclosure. The fact that Chuck Schumer's bill includes language on definition of non-human intelligence is insane in and of itself. Insane as in, I never thought this would happen ever. Stuff I thought I'd only see in Sci Fi.

[-] PM_me_your_vagina_thanks@kbin.social 2 points 11 months ago

You're going to be really disappointed when it turns out it's not aliens. Because it's never aliens. People are fucking idiots.

[-] Domille@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

Right. And you are the only smart person in the room. lol.

You clearly don't know what's been happening. Maybe actually look into it a little. Don't know if it's aliens, but it sure as hell is something weird.

[-] PM_me_your_vagina_thanks@kbin.social -1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I've seen it all, and there's one thing that stand out: the extreme lack of evidence. There's blurry videos of shit that looks a bit weird, that are easily explainable without jumping to fucking aliens, and some dudes that totally swearsies it's for real. Fuck off you absolute cretin.

[-] justgohomealready@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago

The physical and sensor evidence is available within special access programs, and at this point no one who as been following the subject doubts that. A lot of members of congress have been briefed on those programs, and they don't doubt that there are non-human intelligences, be it aliens or time travellers or interdimensional beings or whatever they might be.

[-] PM_me_your_vagina_thanks@kbin.social -1 points 11 months ago

lmao, sure thing.

[-] justgohomealready@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

The thing is we both are going to get downvoted into oblivion. People who are not aware of the latest developments still see the term UFOs and think "loonies". I am actually a bit scared that disclosure is finally upon us, and many people will have a hard time updating their worldviews.

[-] PM_me_your_vagina_thanks@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago

Bro we have seen the latest developments, but we're not "scared" because we're not fucking idiots. It's not aliens. It's some dudes making shit up to make a name for themselves, some dipshit pilots misunderstanding what they're seeing, and fucking eejits like you making it into something it's not.

[-] justgohomealready@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago

I rest my case. How will someone like you react when it ends up being officially recognized as something even weirder than "space aliens from Mars", I don't know.

[-] ikiru@lemmy.ml 0 points 11 months ago

Something tells me they'll probably ask for pictures of the alien's vagina.

[-] Domille@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

yeah, they were very effective with their misinformation campaign.

A few years ago I was driving to my wife's parents place to let their dogs out. It was about 6pm so not dark yet but, the sun was down. I turned the corner o t a back road that went next to the river and all of a sudden it rather dark outside, and I had a really bad sense of dread like the air was heavy. Some of the worst fear I've ever had was setting in. Then suddenly on the right I saw man who was pitch black wearing a hat leaning against a sign. Half a mile later I saw him again sitting on the guardrail on the other side of the road, so I sped up and got out of there. A few hours later I was headed home and same thing happened d I turned on the road and had fear well up inside me. I came around the bend and watched a Jetta go flying off the road and the girl driving hopped out and looked at me with tears pouring down her face, usually I'd be one to stop and make sure all was ok but, with the fear I had I just wanted out of there. Then I came around the next bend and saw him standing in the middle of the other lane roughly where I'd seen him before so I just floored it and got out of there. Still get spooked thinking about it and have a lot of nightmares since where the man with a hat is chasing me while I drive

[-] somedaysoon@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

The shadowman will get you.

[-] 8565@lemmy.quad442.com 16 points 11 months ago

I do hate that Op used Lemmitters instead of Lemmings. It sounds bad

[-] PM_me_your_vagina_thanks@kbin.social 9 points 11 months ago

Lots of people suffer from sleep paralysis and/or psychosis.

[-] dm21@lemm.ee 8 points 11 months ago

When you say “have a shadow person” are you missing the word “seen” there or do you mean some kind of ownership or possession?

[-] Mothra@mander.xyz 7 points 11 months ago

This is a bit confusing. I'm not sure if the shadow you mean is a dark side of our own personalities or if you mean something like an apparition or hallucination. As for the second type, I didn't know people could actually establish a "relationship" with these, all stories I heard (and experienced) are about a shadow figure that appears and then it's gone. I've never met someone referring to one of these as a normally reoccurring thing. I've seen shadow imps when sleep deprived if that counts?

[-] LostCause@kbin.social 5 points 11 months ago

Not sure if that is what you mean here, but when I was in University I started taking speed to try and keep up with studying despite my ADHD/depression.

And not just a bit either, but quite a lot and I must have overdone it and stayed up too many nights in a row once. I remember trying to go through my day, while I constantly spotted what could only be described as "shadow people", whenever I tried to directly look at them they would be gone, but then I‘d see it again just near the edges of my field of view. It was one very creepy day and what led to me finally admitting I can‘t do it anymore.

So I ended up dropping out, found a job in IT and got therapy and some more reasonable ADHD meds too. Still, I imagine that is what being schizophrenic might be like and I did not enjoy that at all.

[-] Antimutt@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

The story is A Wizard of Earthsea (1968, Ursula K. Le Guin), I read it when I was very young, and shadow person is the plot.

[-] luthis@lemmy.nz 2 points 11 months ago
