Maybe it's because I didn't look things up for meta strategies but this game was just too hard. An old issue of Nintendo Power was assigning awards to games and one I remember was "Harder Than College." F-Zero GX was given that. I was still in junior high.

I graduated college with a CS related degree. I still have not beaten this game. Nintendo Power was right.

GX is indeed obnoxiously hard, but I don't ever remember X being too bad at least for Grand Prix or other regular races. I don't remember ever beating Death Race in X, but I will say I remember it was one of those modes that was still fun to try over and over and improve at.

Bold choice of machine! I think my best time is with Black Bull or maybe Green Panther.

I chose the white cat because it's the one with the best handling and I mainly use it in GPs. Looking back I probably should've used the wild goose considering its meta in F-Zero 99 as the "playing aggresively" machine, and the goose in X probably isn't far off from that
