What exactly is the abomination here? Pasta with cheese is also eaten a lot in Europe. Just look at Spaghetti cacio e pepe or Käsespätzle?

That's the cheapest and worst version of the dish. Splurge a little. Get Velveeta shells and cheese.

Or make a cheese sauce, cook some decent macaroni, and stick it in the oven with some bread crumbs on top. Much better that way

Personally, I think the Velveeta shells and cheese is far inferior to Kraft.

I don't think Kraft is necessarily the best Mac and cheese either but for me it beats the hell out of Velveeta.

I moved from europe to canada, and they actually eat that thing. I tried in europe before, and the authentic here it's just as bad
