Summary

Elon Musk lashed out online Monday as Tesla stock plunged over 15%, wiping out its post-election rally and shedding 50% of its value since December.

Investors worried about market declines, recession fears, and Tesla's growing controversy after Musk's far-right rhetoric and mass government layoffs.

Musk falsely claimed Democratic donors funded anti-Tesla protests and linked critics to Jeffrey Epstein. He amplified conspiracy theories blaming arson attacks on Democrats.

Despite his efforts, Tesla's collapse cost Musk $23 billion in a single day.

Lol he's so panicked he's had to order Trump to send a tweet to try to convince right wingers to buy EVs now.

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How do you illegally boycott something? I know he’s a fucking moron but this is one of the stupidest things he’s ever said

[–] GlendatheGayWitch@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

In Texas, if you have a contract with the state or a school district, you have to sign a contract where you agree not to "boycott israel" whatever that means. So I guess if one was to "boycott israel" while taking money from the state of Texas, that could be considered an illegal boycott.

[–] Trainguyrom@reddthat.com 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

you agree not to “boycott israel” whatever that means

As performative as that is, it's just bizarre to imagine as a business having to ask "if I just happen to have not had any contracts with Israeli entities am I in violation of my contract with this random rural Texas county's public works department?"

There's also a clause where you agree not to perform an abortion while on duty.

It's really weird and probably comes from Abbott saying that all money from the state supports Israel and that no money is used to fund an abortion.

This coming from the same exact person that called for a boycott of Tesla not just two years ago, is fucking rich.

[–] Liberal_Ghost@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Like, what in the actual fuck. How is it illegal to boycott Tesla? But it wasn't illegal when all the rednecks wanted to boycott bud-light for having a pro gay add? This clown is a fucking joke.

[–] whome@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 days ago

Because their boycotts usually consisted of buying a lot of the stuff they were angry about and then throw it away, burn it out shoot at it. 🤣

[–] Polderviking@feddit.nl 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

So we can add "illegal" to the list of words Trump uses but doesn't know the meaning of.

[–] TechAnon@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago

LOL! Remember when conservatives were blocking Tesla chargers with their lifted trucks? The vast majority of conservatives who can afford EVs don't want them anyway because it doesn't make "vroom, vroom" sounds.

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Man who doesn't drive buys fascist car to show solidarity with worlds richest man.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I fucking hate that man.

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Holy shit I would laugh so hard if all these right-wing chucklefucks over-leveraged themselves on a Tesla, couldn't pay the monthly payments, the car got repo'ed and they lost their home in the process.

[–] Bob_Robertson_IX@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I would love an explanation of how the boycott against Tesla is illegal.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

"L'état, c'est moi," so anything he doesn't like is illegal.

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Especially considering the Anheiser Busch (or however it's spelled) boycot over someone else's gender identity.

The ones yelling "Snowflake!!11" for a decade turned out to be crybabies. Who woulda thunk.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago

and busch had the last laugh, because they got ALCOHOLICS hooked they will never stop drinking busch beers.

[–] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Is this real ? this sounds like actual schoolyard banter

[–] Ulrich@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago

First time reading one of Trump's posts? They're all like this. In fact they're often worse. He often makes use of schoolyard insults, uses CAPS LOCK, and he has the vocabulary of a 5th grader. To anyone with half a fucking braincell, he's a giant manbaby.

[–] Souroak@lemmy.sdf.org 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He's going to go a buy a Tesla tomorrow? I'm pretty sure he didn't even keep the wrapped cybertruck that was gifted to him by those manosphere podcasters a while back.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Does trump even know how to drive? I don't think I've ever seen him driving anything except a golf cart.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 0 points 2 days ago (2 children)

i heard he never got his license. made sense if yuor being driven everywhere in a limo.

[–] Ulrich@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago

Lots of people in NYC don't have a license. They don't need them. It was a bit of a culture shock when I visited.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

Would have loved it if someone hit him with one of these in the debates
